The Speaking the Truth in Love Conference is an annual event in the life of Founders Baptist Church, an idea that stems from the Apostle Paul’s exhortation in Ephesians 4:15: “Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.” Our theme for this year’s conference is “Gender, Marriage, and Sexuality.” And on this topic, it is our conviction that we must speak the truth – the truth of the gospel of Christ – and that we must do it in love as Christ has commanded us. Like many cities across the country and even the world, Houston is currently in debate about the topic of gender identity and sexuality. A conference on sexuality and gender in the nation’s fourth-largest city is both important and timely. The purpose of the meeting, therefore, is to equip Christians, pastors, church leaders, and local ministries to know how to apply the gospel on issues of biblical sexual ethics and gender, and to explore what the gospel means for the future of marriage, gender, and sexual identity.
