....do you find yourselves, internally, shaking your heads, no , no, no when your Pastor is speaking during Sunday services?
Hi Christopher -

I have enjoyed your comments and you remind me of myself in many of the things you have said/are asking. I am still a relatively new member in the family of God – and I can remember very well asking and saying some of the same things you have been saying. I especially found your question this morning to be a good one and it was a question that kept me up at night early on in my walk (still sometimes does) – how do you know if the preacher is a real man of God and not just a hireling?

It was/still is amplified by the fact that I am an Ex Catholic who was spoon-fed falsehoods and lies my whole life by the very people that said they knew God and were there to make me right with him. Needless to say – I have been extremely sensitive to what preachers say and it can be downright exhausting to stay alert and basically research a sermon after I hear it to make sure it was agreeable. On one hand I have learned a tremendous amount from this exercise – on the other hand I find myself cooking “Roast Preacher” a little too often sometimes…maybe….still not sure…

From what part of the Bible does the RCC get its guidance for the position of Cardinal? Where did God give clear guidelines for their operation, role, and day-to-day function within the RCC? Or is there a worldly form of governance that the Cardinal model is based upon – like the old Roman Senate?

As a former papist following Roman Catholic – I wondered at the hypocrites in professed Christianity as they had readily adopted the tradition of Christ-mass. (The “Mass” is complete blasphemy) They would not be joined to the RCC – but they would observe her traditions and “holy” days when it came to following their lead on Dec 25th. They would set up nativities with a baby Jesus in it and turn around and call the RCC Idolaters for having a statue of Jesus up year round. All we did was claim we had more and better statues – we got to enjoy them year round! Shame on the non papists I would say – hypocrites!

This double standard in the actual Christian born again body of Christ is hurting our testimony to the un-saved in the RCC and to the other non-Christians in the world. Those who have access to an encyclopedia, the internet, or a Bible can quickly find out the origin of Christ-mass in the pagan underworld that went on for many years before Jesus came. They can see in our own Bible how God tells us what is a holy day and what is not. As a RCC member I was taught that Christ-mass day was a “holy day” ordered by the RCC and therefore God. This meant that missing mass that day would be a “mortal” sin and would condemn me to Hell – for missing a man made created “holy” day.

I don’t know why the professing Christian church is not more discerning when it comes to things they share in common with the RCC. We share some things – don’t misunderstand me – but if we share something we better know WHY. If they claim in THEIR own encyclopedia - ]](New Advent) that the “Mass of Christ” (Blasphemy!) was not observed for the first couple hundred years of church history – why do we today? If they took a pagan holiday and “made” it “holy” – can we call this acceptable for the actual Church to observe? We look like fools to the world. It damages our testimony and it offends our Lord when we disobey the commands -

Deu_12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Deu_18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
Jer_10:2a Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen

Anytime a sermon is preached and recorded (e.g., SA), isn't it a historical record and a tradition of men?
If Sola Scriptura were followed, it would be read from the pulpit without comment. Any comment or sermon is a tradition of men.
No, it is called preaching. Have you heard preaching on SA? Tradition of men makes the Word of God of none effect - like this document. Preaching is what they did in the bible, Paul did it, Peter did it, Philip did it, others did it. If the Word is shared - it is read and it is preached.
Christians are charged with checking the scripture to see if what is being said is true - if it is biblical. That is unique to Christians. Catholics on the other hand are charged with absolute obedience. Tradition of men is what you find added to the Word of God.
Pro 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar....Christians take this seriously - cults do not.

Also, from the SA Articles of Faith:
(7)We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ and cherish every Scriptural expression of that unity. However, we reject the unscriptural attempts at church union by such organizations as the World Council of Churches and Evangelicals and Catholics Together.

Another headline might read:
"90% of professing Christians are not Christians"

From their paper:
10. Renouncing false witness. Christians are to speak sincerely and respectfully; they are to listen in order to learn about and understand others’ beliefs and practices, and are encouraged to acknowledge and appreciate what is true and good in them. Any comment or critical approach should be made in a spirit of mutual respect, making sure not to bear false witness concerning other religions.

If Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life - no other religion has anything to offer in salvation. Glossing over this keeps many from hearing the actual truth to the saving of their soul.

Jesus said we would be HATED for his names sake (Mar 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.) - why? In part because we are to have an unyielding stance on the faith, to preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2Ti 4:2.
This ridiculous paper is tradition of men that makes the Word of God of none effect. Can everyone see that?

There are two parties in John 6: Those who followed Jesus and those who departed.
You, sir, have departed and are leading others to do likewise.
How will you explain this on the day of atonement?
I gather you are new here? Sermon Audio has a terrific section of sermons on Catholicism, ]]over 300
, that will tell you the truth.

After you listen to a few of them you may want to listen to the section on ]]the Gospel, looks like thousand upon thousands. As a general rule of thumb, just about every sermon here on Sermon Audio includes the Gospel.

Remember - Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Also read Heb 11 to see how people in the OT were saved.

May God lead you out!

What Bible verse tells me my Catholic friends "are lost and on their way to hell"?
WAE -
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. KJV

As a Catholic - I believed on the Mass, the Eucharist, Confession to a priest, the rosary, Mary, the Saints, Purgatory, the pope, my OWN works and many other things - but never Jesus and what he did completely for me. It is VERY important what you believe.

Of the 40+ times "believeth" and 100+ times "believe" appear in the NT - not once is anything listed that a Catholic puts their belief and trust in.

I have well over 100 devout catholic family members that are 100% deceived and it is a tremendous burden on my heart.

Did you know that if you walk into a Catholic church and ask "Where is Jesus?" they will point you to a Monstrance containing the blessed Eucharist that they believe to be Jesus - Body, Soul, and Divinity.

Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Mat 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not

YEA, RIGHT!!!
Indeed - that is a mark to avoid like the plague these days.

However, it is helpful when I need to see what the counterfeit church is up to.
