quote: "He makes this favour common to all, because it is propounded to all, and not because it is in reality extended to all; for though Christ suffered for the sins of the whole world, and is offered through God's benignity indiscriminately to all, yet all do not receive him."
Sounds okay to me
So you actually do believe that every single mortal that has ever existed has received the offer. Boy oh boy where do you get that hypothesis?
It is not only untrue it is completely impossible. Calvin believed in election and reprobation which of course is Biblical teaching. Therefore why would God present an offer to the reprobate whom HE foreknew would be going to hell?

BTW John. Pop next door to your non-Christian neighbours and ask them if they have had the offer from God.

This was for all the good Calvinists on these threads, so that they might know what Calvinism actually is
Now John don't be too quick to judge. We all know what a sooper dooper theological giant you are but don't you think you chould go and read what Calvin said in Rom 5:18?

BTW Do you believe that "ALL" everybody who has ever lived have received the "offer" in Scripture. For example the Chinese, Indian, African, etc etc - Have they always had a church, preacher and copy of the Bible throughout history?

Now if your answer is "no" - Then "everybody" has not received the offer whoever teaches otherwise? In fact realistic history confirms otherwise we know for a fact that whilst Israel was plodding along in Old Testament times the other nations around them were not offered the Bible. And even Paul in the NT teaches 'Not all Israel is Israel"

Mike wrote:
Read them and feel justified. We musn't interfere with the ordained persecutions by helping the ladies, must we?
We can only be justified by Christ. His righteousness is imputed unto the elect.

Man cannot interfere with that which is ordained.

As for what "we" can do?

If God had so ordained it "we" might have intervened to cause a local riot perhaps? But God did not want that did He?

But God is sovereign and over all that happens in His creation. Remember He planted the tree which He knew by omniscience and foreknowing, would be key to mankind's future on earth. And by those same powers knew what that future would be.

Out of this human race He has ordained some to election and some to reprobation.

Believe: Ro 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

Believe: Prov 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
v33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.

Believe: Ro 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works:

Jim Lincoln wrote:
Obama has never shown any disloyalty to his wife, and since there are so many half-truths and lies out there about him, this one can be ignored also
If the article is untrue Jim.

Why do you keep defending Obama and the Democrats Jim?
Is there something you need to share with us on this?
I suppose the current Democrats are similar to Liberal Anglicans in previous centuries who reject Bible principles and precepts to write their own book.

The Bishop said
"I believe we have good relationships with the Muslim community here in Oxford and I am personally very happy for the mosque to call the faithful to prayer in East Oxford.

"Faith is a very important factor in the lives of 80 per cent of the world's population and a public expression of that faith is both natural and reasonable.""

This idiot is a Bishop of the religion of Liberalism and wouldn't know the Bible from the bus timetable.

This shows just how far the Anglicans have gone from true Christianity.

2Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

And these Liberals are definately into "fairy stories" when it comes to religion.

"A new report confirms what Christians in India already feared: 2007 was the worst year since their nation's independence in 1947 for attacks on Christians."

Not just in western nations in decline spiritually, of which one of the signs is moral decline, but as we read in the east too we observe the growing anti-christian bias and attacks.
Signs of the times is no longer a loose speculation of our day, but related to the events and circumstances around us.

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luk 21.36
