are you referring to the terrible way that some have treated others standing up for Christian standards of discourse, even on here? I agree
Too many feather bed Christians have no idea of what true persecution is and when they see a christian chastening an other who is in obvious sin, they side with the sinner, they tell the one washing the other in Christ's Word that they are too hard or too harsh, it makes me sick when I think of actual Christians who are being martyred now, some even in the western world.
while it is a good thing to suffer for Christ, one must remember that it is exceedingly hard to rejoice whilst watching someone torture your your children, and this has happened to christians before, I have had this talk with my children ... if ever i am being tortured to renounce, and you hear me screaming in bloody agony, ignore me, i command you to ignore my screams, for my flesh is weak, but my spirit is willing.
this is heavy stuff to consider when calling it all joy.
my experience with "some song" i went to the WELS for to draw me some water and this was the song the "visiting pastor" gave us in a handout to sing: The Night Will Soon Be Ending, i just adored this song and believed it was God Himself promising me my pain and agony was soon over and i had finally found my conservative church home, i researched this song because i wanted it on my computer, this is what i found out about the person who wrote this song
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jochen_Klepper he committed suicide, he talked his wife and daughter into doing this with him, to me offering this song is like unto offering a sickly sacrifice, i left the WELS and dug into them and found the ichabodthegloryhasdeparted website.
sometimes a song is wrong and sometimes a people get rid of a good song because it gets in the way of their sinning
