REGENERATION AND BAPTISM
BY REV. JOHN CHARLES RYLE

10. “But do not all infants receive baptism worthily...? and are they not consequently all regenerated, as a matter of course, the moment they are baptized?”

“Certainly not. No infant is of itself worthy to receive grace, because, as the Catechism says, it is “born in sin and a child of wrath.” It can only be received into the Church and baptized on the faith and profession of its parents or sponsors.”

Teaching of Thomas Aquinas who was a Catholic theologian 1225–1274.

“And therefore Christ’s Passion was not only a sufficient but a superabundant atonement for the sins of the human race; according to 1 John 2:2: “He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.” Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica, Part 3, Q 48.2.

1 John 2:22 “He is the propitiation for our sins, for some efficaciously, but for all sufficiently, because the price of his blood is sufficient for the salvation of all: but it has no efficacy except for the elect because of an impediment.” Thomas Aquina, “Commentaria 1 Tim. 2:1-6a,” in Omnes D. Pauli Apostoli Ep

Mike N.Y. believes
J.C. Ryle was a hypothetical universalist and so is John UK.

Mike and John both believe that Christ died for all men.

J.C. Ryle on John 1:29
"Christ is...a Savior for all mankind....He did not suffer for a few persons only, but for all mankind....What Christ took away, and bore on the cross, was not the sin of certain people only, but the whole accumulated mass of all the sins of all the children of Adam....I hold as strongly as anyone that Christ's death is profitable to none but the elect who believe in His Name. But I dare not limit and pare down such expressions as the one before us....I dare not confine the intention of redemption to the saints alone. Christ is for every man....The atonement was made for all the world, though it is applied and enjoyed by none but believers."
