Wow Kevin and Dave,
I wasn't expecting such a sobering dose of reality when I clicked on today's link. This message is what keeps me coming back to Generations Radio. Every day of my life it seems that the world goes deeper into decay and you have shined light on this fact today by pointing out that this downward decline can be seen everywhere, even in the way people dress compared to how they used to dress.
There is a yearning in me for righteousness and purity and it can't be found in everyday life, no, but instead the opposite! We who love God and desire what is pure and lovely are being overrun it seems, by a deteriorating and dying world. What can we do but get on our knees and beg God for respite? How is that respite going to come? It is found in the third line of the Lord's prayer...THY KINGDOM COME! I don't long for revival...I don't long for the US gov't to elect righteous men and for the world to clean up it's act so my grandkids have a nice world to live in, I long for HIS COMING! Why don't you ever talk about His Kingdom coming, Kevin and Dave? The things you talk about are always spot on but you leave out the most anticipated (and imminent) event in Christendom...The Rapture of the church and the coming of the Bridegroom.
WHAT?! We need a new name for a person who actually follows Christ. "Christian" is too broad a term now-a-days and includes tattooed, pierced, partying, fornicating, worldly hedonists.
I like to imagine that Jesus is sitting next to me. I ask the question, would I take Jesus into this movie theater with me? If the answer is no, and it should be, don't go! IF the answer is yes, you are desensitized to the world. Period.
I don't know what kind of Christian likes H-wood movies especially NEW H-Wood movies. Kevin said it best when he said 95% of so called Christians still go to H-wood movies, hence the need for a new name for saved people.
I can't figure out how any Spirit filled Christian could go and PAY money to sit and be "entertained" by this garbage and that is what it is, all of it, GARBAGE. Take your $20 (is that what a movie cost? I don't know, I haven't been in a movie theater in almost 20 years. The last movie I paid to see was Titanic and that was only because everyone, even church members said it was good. I didn't like it)and give it to the poor.
Thank you, Kevin and Dave I know you are a true believer and I have been listening to you for about 7 years give or take. But don't you think it is about time to give up on looking for some sort of reformation? Isn't it pretty obvious that we are in the very last days before the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His Bride, the church to take us and hide us away until His indignation be overpast? (until the Time of Jacob's Trouble is over)
I realize that you optimistically think that there is a chance that this country could turn around and turn to God but doesn't it seem to you that the opposite has been happening for quite some time now?
I appreciate what you say and the topics that you address from your platform but as a solid teacher and firm believer in the word of God don't you think it is time to talk to your listeners about His Glorious appearing and our going with Him in our glorified bodies that won't ever get sick or hurt or die?
That is the zeitgeist in my world, and I suppose I have said enough about it but I do want to thank you for your service, I just wanted you to hear from one of your listeners about what seems to be approaching....THE RAPTURE!!! And I also wanted to comfort you with these words!
But wait a minute! Kevin and Dave, Although you are both in agreement that legalism can be counterproductive to the Christian, and I would tend to agree with several of the items that you had mentioned, e.g. how much water to use in baptism, (even baptism itself not being necessary for salvation could be included in your list) but I believe that pastors with large platforms such as yours need to study the King James vs. other versions issue IN DEPTH. I used the NIV for years and I would never say that someone is not saved if they use other versions but I can tell you that when I did a study on the differences, It was completely obvious that I was reading a version that had an agenda, that being to water down the message of Christ. And when I delved into the villainous characters behind the scenes of these new versions, I was convinced that they are not of God but of money and thus asked the question, why would any Christian, upon discovering the blatant ERRORS and apostasy that these versions cunningly insert, continue to read and study them? I for one will not and I am an advocate of exposing these PER versions for what they really are...COUNTERFEITS. This is not being legalistic nor unnecessarily dogmatic but this falls under the instruction to RIGHTLY DIVIDE the word of truth.
Rightly Dividing One interesting thing that I learned recently about a verse in Revelation has just completely astounded me. I can't remember where I got the idea but it came to me while reading in Revelation 8:10-12. It states that when Wormwood fell to earth that not only were the waters made bitter by this great star's impact but 1/3 of the sun, moon and stars were smitten and the day was decreased by 1/3 and the night too. Could it be that the impact was such that it sped up the rotation of the earth by 1/3 like a billiard ball striking another and making it spin faster? I think it is completely possible and I think that is what explains how the sun moon and stars were "smitten" by 1/3...the earth began to spin faster and this ALSO SHORTENED THE TIME as Jesus promised!
Wow, he has done it again! Pastor Bryan is sorely missed (since he retired from the pulpit) by this believer but I am thankful that his voice can still be heard. I have told him in the past that he has a great gift of rightly dividing the word of Truth and that there are so few teachers in this age that do so, hearing him is like getting my bible meat served to me Med. Rare with a piping hot baked potato! I go away filled with the word. I'm going to go have another plate right now. Does gluttony for the bible count as a sin?? :)
Let not your heart be troubled This was a much needed sermon because we live in a world that is consumed with the idea that each member DESERVES to be happy. Somehow, they (God rejectors) have applied a mandatory condition to being human that is completely contrary to what Jesus taught. Each and every human that ever lived deserves only one thing in this life - eternal damnation and separation from their creator. Aren't you glad that God is a loving and merciful God? Thank Him daily that He isn't going to give us what we deserve (those who ask, that is) but has delivered us from the eternal suffering that we deserve and has taken the penalty of our sin upon Himself. Modern Christians think that they deserve to be happy and can't conceive of a God that would have anything at all to do with evil yet alone create it. I'm glad He created it because that means He has the power over it. He has made ALL things but that doesn't tickle the ears of many professing Christians today so they have turned aside to teachers who will tell them what they want to hear.
Great Sermon! I listened to this whole message and I didn't hear any distinction made between child pornography and normal adult pornography. Matter of fact, every example that Pastor Bryan used was CHILD pornography. These are 2 completely different kinds of sin. While both are bad, I would consider one MUCH more evil than the other and I don't think I would be alone in so doing. I would go as far as saying that one is SICK and the other comparatively normal. We must resist all forms of sexual sin it's true, but I wish Bryan made the distinction and possibly done a separate sermon for each. I know many that struggled with adult pornography, myself included but I don't know anyone who admitted to having a problem with child pornography. Most find the idea nauseating.
Great Sermon! Pastor Bryan,
I hope married life is treating you well. I was just going over some of your sermons here on SermonAudio and I must stop and say that you have been granted a very valuable gift and that is your gift of interpreting Scripture. You have had an impact on my world view for your teaching on things and your way of explaining concisely what difficult scripture says and then combining it into one dispensational package that makes complete sense. I have listened to almost every sermon you have made and I could still learn more things if I listen to them again. Any plans for returning to the pulpit in your future? I hope so because in this day and age, one good pastor is worth much more than 50 average pastors! Thanks for your contribution to the kingdom of Heaven and for you sharing of the gift God has given you.
I love ya Kev BUT.... How can someone with so many good things to say have lived through what has happened to this country in the last 20 years and NOT understand that the end is HERE and rejoice about it??? I love to listen to you but I think you are ignoring the fact that biblical prophecy is coming to pass faster than we can say "Tyranny" and the turmoil in the Middle East and the fact that the world, (now including the US) has set themselves against the Jewish nation now more than ever before SCREAMS that we are in the last minutes of the last days of the Age of Grace! It isn't even that I want to get behind you and hope for better days in this country and the world for that matter but I am becoming more and more resolute in my desire for Jesus Christ to come and set up His kingdom. I am so ready for the Rapture that I am enamored with the idea. "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and UNTO THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation! Hebrews 9:29 (emphasis mine) That is what I look for, the "blessed Hope" and nothing more.
Great Sermon! Thank you for that information, I have been battling with these so called modern prophets on a regular basis and you have provided good bible reference for correcting them so more people don't fall victim to false prophets that are so common these days. On thing that I might ask is that you refrain from calling the last book of the bible a plural name. It is not "Revelation's it is SINGULAR and with you bible expertise, I was floored when I heard you make that error that babes make. You did it twice otherwise I could have ignored it. I am not the only one who cringes when people say "Revelation's" I have spoken to many who feel the same way. Thank you and please continue to keep up your work for the kingdom.
Well Done! Pastor, you preach (medium rare) Prime Rib and Duchess potatoes to a starving church. I hope you will continue on Sermonaudio somehow after you are married because you have been given a gift and a great gift it is of discerning the scripture and boldly proclaiming it with no apology for those that are offended by the Truth. You edify me every time I sit at my computer and listen to one of your sermons. Please keep up the good work. I will be praying that you continue with your work and for the Lord to bless you even more. Thank you, from a sincere brother in Christ.
Great Sermon! I am growing so weary of hearing from these false prophets that say God told them this or God told them that or God gave me a dream and then they try to interpret the dream like Daniel did with Nebuchadnezzar.... I have never seen so many people who claim to have met Jesus and to have received all of this new revelation than what we see from Christians in this day and age. They use Amos 3:7 and Joel 2:28 to prove that they are really hearing from Jesus Christ. They don't read their bibles that clearly warn them "Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not." Matt. 24:26 I know that Jesus was speaking to the Jews when He spoke those words and that he was talking about the time of Jacobs Trouble but if it applied to that time, how much more to the time we now live in; the age of Grace? People need to have revivals alright but they need a BIBLE REVIVAL! They need to practice rightly dividing the Word of Truth!
Great Sermon! Are you still going to preach after you are married? You have not mentioned that or else I had missed it when you mentioned whether or not you are going to continue to preach or pastor a church. Blessings to you Pastor Bryan, whatever you do.
Refreshing There is something about hearing the word of God rightly divided and undiluted that fills us spiritually and quenches our thirst in this parched out-land, desolate to Christianity. It is in fact, a rare thing to find bold teaching anymore and Pastor Bryan's preaching is bold and unapologetic for the reality of the exclusivity of believers in Jesus Christ. We are becoming so accustomed to watered down preaching now a days that when we finally do hear a hearty message, we raise an eyebrow and think, oh boy, someone is going to object to this, and if we are in church at the time, we may find ourselves glancing quickly throughout the room checking people's reactions. Then we catch ourselves and say, AMEN, brother. This is how we think and feel and we don't really hear it spoken of much in these days for fear of persecution. Great Job, Pastor Bryan and Congrats on your engagement.
Great Sermon! I spent the first 10 years of my walk with the Lord blinded by the NIV. I even "corrected" people when they used the common cliche "the love of money is the root of all evil". I stood up and said, "No! That is not what the bible says! It says the love of money is A root of ALL SORTS of evil. That means that it is not THE root but just one of the roots." And the people that I corrected, as far as I remember accepted this and walked away. It wasn't until after I threw away my NIV that I found that verse in 1Timothy 6:10 and found that it IS THE root of ALL evil. The NIV deliberately changes those words "the" to "a" root and then add the word "sorts" of evil. The NIV changes the meaning of that verse completely disobeying God's command not to add or subtract from His Word. Satan is insidious and you will find him very near the things of God, trying his best to corrupt the things of God.
Great Sermon! Also,
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1Tim. 6:10 NIV
For the love of money is the root of all evil: 1Tim. 6:10 KJV
As a young Christian, I went around correcting people that said that money is the root of all evil because I used a NIV! This is the one that impacted me the most and was most instrumental in my changing to the KJV. And there are many more. Use your KJV ONLY!
Great Sermon! Have you ever considered that the verse that says "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." (Psalm 37:4) could also mean that He will GIVE you your desires as in, you had NO desires but God GAVE you the desires of your heart. It can be taken both ways!
Great Testimony! Your testimony and mine are similar but different time, place, things, careers, etc. I was born again at a young age and turned away like you for different reasons but I aspired to be a Certified Executive Chef, the real deal. The artist in me was very impressed with the Garde Manger aspect (veg and fruit carving, cold buffet, highly decorated food etc.) including ice carving.
I attained my CEC in 1998 and continued in the business but before that, I eventually came back to the Lord because a girl friend of mine was into Jehovah's Witnesses. But to make a very long story short, I wanted to carve ice like the guys that I saw while coming up in my training. I finally became a decent ice carver and my point is, you were talking about your efforts being temporary. I think I got you beat. My art gets eaten or it melts into a puddle of water within a day!
