"When the high court issued those decisions jointly in 1973, Southern Baptists were ... supportive of abortion rights at the institutional level and through the resolution process"The SBC is all that's left of the mighty Mainlines. All the rest have fallen on their feminist errancy swords. Now it's being revealed that Planned Parenthood could have written the Southern Baptist abortion resolutions through the 70s and 80s. Who can dare point a bony finger of indignation at anyone else when the stench of incinerated baby parts exists because the SBC "work[ed] for legislation that will allow the possibility of abortion" (1971 SBC Resolution)? How could any Baptist seminarian see a miscarriage and call the child a blob of tissue? Why did they bequeath us this evil legacy? How can anyone take the very complex doctrine of sola fide seriously if they couldn't even immediately get the real obvious life and personhood doctrines correct? |
