I take it that you believe that letting the government do what it will do, while recognizing that God is sovereign, is extreme; and that having such a view is akin to withdrawing to the mountains. Apparently, you equate this with the Manichean heresy of believing matter is evil. Likewise, it appears that you equate being salt and light with political action. This is to misunderstand the call to separation from the world. We are in the world, but not of the world. We are pilgrims and strangers and ambassadors of Christ in this world. Such do not strive to be masters and lords of the world, do they? Dobson is a Freudian psychologist and his heretical promotion of self-esteem teaching ought to be enough for any Christian to ignore him and the rest of his claptrap. James Dobson is a dangerous, dangerous man. He's used his whiny, crying radio show appealing primarily to gullible women to gain fortune & fame. In the process, he's caused untold damage to the spreading of the pure gospel and Christian families in particular. This is it exactly. And not only that, but Dobson has poisoned millions of unbelievers against the gospel with his legalism and with the false doctrine that Christianity is essentially a set of moral principles that are worked out through the political system. (He's not alone in this, of course; there are lots of others who make their living off of pushing some political agenda under the banner of Christianity.) Unfortunately, just like a Fortune 500 company, Focus has carefully developed a "succession plan" to ensure the corporation's existence continues after the founder has departed.
