To be perfectly frank I don't think the UK needs a monarch anymore. The Queen and family today ure maintained by the posh lot in society as a kind of representation of the superior types who got their money and prestige from previous generations.
The ordinary people and peasants (like me) in society are not really bothered whether Charlie or his mum live in incredible splendor and boost the tourist trade keeping drafty and expensive castles open for viewing.
Charlie then can carry on with all his hobbies he has built up and nobody really cares at street level. If they really wanted to they could register the monarchy another historic redundant unnecessary ancient monolith with no further application in society.
