The once stalwart Church of England, The Episcopal Church, The Church of Scotland, The Presbyterian Church, The Methodist Church and The Lutheran Church have all fallen on the sword of egalitarianism, abortion, feminism, women's ordination and, now, openly gay clergy. Two generations ago, these denominations, consisting of hundreds of millions of souls, contained some of the finest pastors, preachers and theologians. Today, these once completely orthodox brands are so devastated that even the remnant shudders at the thought of having to carry on with these labels (OPC, PCA, LCMS) lest these contagions also come to roost on their roof. Though many of the remnant now seek shelter in the broadly baptist megachuch (Swindoll, Piper, MacArthur, Driscoll, Stanley, Osteen, Warren), what bulwark holds back the deluge which is surely to let loose there too? |
