The "Remnant" are the hated minority they are even hated by the nominal Christians. If you are acceptable to the worldly societies we live in then you will not be hated. The "hated minority" is the Presbyterian Calvinist Church which sticks to Sola Scriptura.

"To the detriment of the poor, the "welfare" money confiscated from those above the poverty level is mostly consumed by the burgeoning federal bureaucracy that facilitates the programs."

Ha! Don't ya just love bureaucracy?

And good ole socialist Barack Obama wants to build the bureraucracy up.
And he is about to get four more years to do just that.

Jim Lincoln will just love these stats.

No answer, eh?
"Ye do err not knowing the Scriptures" Lurker.

You appear to be like the Sadducees who did not perceive the Resurrection in the OT.
Thus do you contradict Christ Himself.
Who replies to you...

Matt 22:29 ... Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

The OT verse to which Jesus refers is Exod 3:6.

1) Are you suggesting that sperm and egg are the same? Are the works of the law of Moses and the faith of the COG the same?
2) Are you saying that there was? Book, chapter and verse from the historical OT please.

Wow!!

1) Are you dealing with IVF treatment back in Sarah's days???

2) Try Psalm 49 and 16 for example. Tell me does your religion teach that OT people do not receive eternal life??? In effect were not saved???

I guess you don't believe what happened at Matthew 17:3???

John 5:39 Why would the Jews think = "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me"

Why would the rich man ask how to receive eternal life if it was not thought by the Jews to be an option.

Then there are the verses which deal with heaven and hell in the OT. If these are not possibilities to them why would they discuss them?

The term "everlasting" in the Hebrew means "time out of mind"

etc

Oh
The afterlife. Unlike the Sadducees, the Pharisees also believed in the resurrection of the dead in a future, messianic age. The Pharisees believed in a literal resurrection of the body

So we must conclude that the woman's seed plays an equally important role in the offspring.

Are you suggesting that Sarah's "seed" is different to her husband's???

See also Gal 4:23.

Lurker wrote:
In addition, Israel was promised real estate in the historical OT but in the NT the promise is eternal life
Are you saying that there was no promise of eternal life in the OT???

Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ

The Elect:
Ro 4:12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. 13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

The Elect:
Ro 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

"But Glasgow Presbytery has now moved to seize control of the church, and will ask the Kirk’s General Trustees to recover “all property and assets"

The satanic unBiblical Liberal abomination Church of Scotland makes the move to steal God's property from the congregation who is sticking to God's law.

Scotland no longer has a national church but instead has embraced the religion of Satan which proclaims ditch the Bible and keep the sin.

Fire and brimstone is on the horizon.

"Deuter 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen."

"THE Moderator of the Church of Scotland has warned that children should not be forced to attend kirk services as it risks putting them off religion"

He is correct.

The Church of Scotland has been putting people off Christianity for years.

The Kirk has been UnBiblical and UnChristian for years.

The Church of Scotland is Liberal and therefore serves Satan. They are a false witness. They wouldn't know the Bible from the Bus timetable - just like the Church of England.

Biblical Christians do not attend the National churches of the UK.

2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

""I saw a Christian pastor maligned by journalists because he dared to call people “sinners.†In other words, we are now targeted for stating even the most basic tenets of our faith""

Looks like people today are full of deceit and prepared to call God a liar. Come Lord Jesus, come soon.

1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Government in charge of religion???

Prov 18:3 When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach

The problem with burning Korans is the reaction we get from from Islam, (religion of peace).

It may be that somebody gets blown up because of this action.

The cartoon of mohammed by the Dutch paper received an over-response, this is likely to have a similar effect.

Perhaps they should burn one of Richard Dawkins books instead, these are more of an attack upon Christian beliefs.

Whereas the Koran is just one of the many religious books written and read in ignorance by the reprobates.

Jer.10
[1] Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
[2] Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
[3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
[4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
[5] They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
[6] Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might
[7] Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee."

dont know why he start talking about the masoretic text
pc.
The Masoretic text is where the Bible gets its Old Testament from. When you read your Old Testament you probably read the Masoretic text.

"The English translations generally available today are all based on the same Old Testament text—the Hebrew text that has existed without serious rival and with extraordinarily little variation for about two thousand years, called the Masoretic text.

Ancient versions (translations) of the Old Testament, including the Greek (called the Septuagint), differ from the Masoretic text in sometimes significant ways. Modern English versions differ in the extent to which they adopt readings from these and other non-Masoretic texts, but they all basically follow the Masoretic text.

Before the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered after World War II, the oldest Hebrew Bibles were only about a thousand years old. But the Dead Sea Scrolls have confirmed that the Masoretic text goes back with remarkable fidelity at least another thousand years to before the time of Christ." Bible behind the Bible

Does this upset the apple-cart? Compare the Masoretic with the Dead Sea Scrolls.

"A lot of people on campus either don't know we exist or are afraid of us or hate us," says Bodnar, president of the ISU Atheist and Agnostic Society."

I'm actually quite surprised this is the reaction they get. In a sense, from a Christian perspective, it is quite refreshing.

"It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before"

Say, whats a "politically aware Democrat?"

Obama clearly does not know how to read a situation like this. Perhaps he doesn't do public grief 'acting' like other professional politicians. Gordon Brown is similar in that his personality takes second place to political ambition.

Perhaps Obama needs a coach who can train him in sincerity and compassion communication. Then it might not always be the politician who speaks but occasionally the human being will appear in public.
