Jim from Nebraska , we all grew up watching Billy Graham Crusades on TV. He was admired and respected by all. He has advised all the presidents. However I have seen the You Tube videos with Sculler and his name escapes me, the tv host that was married so many times, and personally I wanted to give Mr Graham a mulligan due to his age. But I really want to figure this out. Christ said to beware when all men speak good of you and if possible the very elect would be tricked. I think I already know the answer but need evidence and proof. To question Billy Graham will bring most over fifty years old to your public flogging. Will you point me toward more proof so I can settle this in my mind. Thank you in advance. I know he's Armenian , strike 1.
John from UK, thank you for your kind words. I have been called to be a deacon and for the last six weeks have met Sunday nights with other men for officer training, including the WCF and church government. For the most part it has been like the polar bear guys jumping into freezing water. Willing jump, shock, fight for the surface, air and the exhilaration of being alive. And then warm clothes. The responsibilities of an officer ( to Christ ) are grave and personally scary to me. As you mentioned the older we get and the times when we don't feel Christ closely are miserable times. Christians have duty and responsibility to patiently fight thru to the air above by the Word and prayer. And unseen is Gods Spirit upholding and escorting us as Christ promised. The world is turning on us at a rapid rate and it is condensing true believers together. My prayer is unity of the elect in true doctrine and service. The word of God is our anchor, shield, sword and sight. A little story... A man was carried out to a cliff over looking the sea. Clear calm night. What do you see? I see a billion stars and the beauty overwhelms me. Nature is so grand! Anything else? No, just a loss for words. Another fellow is brought up, same question. I see a billion stars in their glory, the creating, artist
John UK and Ches 8 I admire you for your patience and concern for Tb. Now to you Tb, for you to post that John is not fit to judge you is first an insult to him and an insult to all other Christian brethren following along. That is not the language we use with each other here. You owe him an apology. We are not your enemy as long as this remains civil. Debate and rebuke is a good thing for us all. Don't get personal. Now apologize and let's continue. We all are concerned for our souls and yours.
Frank and sf, two great post. I stand humbled when I wonder why god cared to call me. I was a slave to sin, a dead man spiritually. The Spirit of God opened my eyes and gave me sight. He gave me life. He said follow me and reverse course. I was passive in receiving life and yet willingly obedient by his Spirit and grace. If left to my own I would have died in my sins. I go out of the way to not take a millimeter of credit for my new life. God ALONE saved me. I will never be able to thank him enough.
A favorite quip from Alabama..." No one retires and moves north ". We have a church on every corner and the truth and errors like anywhere else. But it is a different section of our country in a good way. Mostly rural honest people, as everywhere, in need of revival.
Excellent discussion Just finished listening. Thoroughly enjoyed the thoughts and passion displayed for the Truth. We, as a Church body, are so blessed to have Sheppards that are rabid for getting to the Truth.
