Frank you are right,.. you cannot ignore the tenets and responsibilities of the faith and then claim the benefits. I think the core issue is two fold. One,... is the person a believer,... repenting of all sin. Two,... are they growing more Christlike. I know that that is not easy to pin down, but they are essential. Some would make the distinction with behavior and thought, but Jesus tells us that if we lust, we have committed adultery. So again it comes down to has Jesus claimed you and as Romans 8 talks about pardoned your sin. Then are you walking toward or away from your sin. Are you repentant or justifying it? Finally, we cannot and dare not try to tell a HOLY GOD what he meant. He said that having relations with the same sex is sin. There is no appeal. If Christians end up in the 1% with God on this, we are still in the MAJORITY. Truth does not change due to popular opinion. That being said, we must have compassion and love toward those who are struggling to follow Jesus with this attraction, it must be an immense and confusing burden. Pray for them! |
