Watch the Eastern Sky, Faithful Remnant,

I agree this string is a dead horse. Your final statement was redundant as any devoted Christian feels the same way. What do you want a medal? That is our responsibility. I never said the bible condoned homosexuality. I said that the word ('ahaba)that the Holy Spirit used to describe the type of love David and Jonathan shared is most certainly used to describe sexual desire in other contexts. I then tried to argue that their love was greater in emotional satisfaction to David (his own words) than the love he had of women. Where the deterioration took place was in refusing to lay aside your own personal predispositions and prejudices. But that's okay. Faithful Remnant you wanted a scriptural confirmation of God's desire to know his people in the same way as a man "knows" his wife at the deepest intimacy possible which is sexual. The two becoming one flesh. Tell me whose bride are we again? Also, do a word study on the word Yada. Adam Yada his wife and she bore a son. Then read Isaiah, and every passage where this word comes up God uses the picture of Israel failing to be a faithful wife. There you go. Prove me wrong.

Bro. Williams,

Sure. Are you amused? Now, get thee behind me. I have no more time for you.

Yamil,

I know I've struck a deep, deep cord. Fear is a very strong emotion but perfect love casts out fear. One day, hopefully soon, you'll be able to see that God does indeed want that level of intimacy with his people. The union of one flesh we share with Christ is typified by the marriage of a man and a woman. And the two shall become one flesh as they do in sexual intercourse. I'm sorry if this offends you but I can only speak as scripture speaks. As for the homosexuality issue. I have a homosexual history, it colors my perceptions. In good as well as bad ways. Thank God He uses all things to achieve his ultimate purpose of summing all things in Christ. God bless you and I'll be praying for you and would ask you to pray for me.

I'm out of here.

Yamil, Faithful Remnant and the skeptics,

This kind of intimacy isn't foreign to scripture. It abounds throughout from cover to cover. Especially from a God who desires this type of closeness with His people. You just have a warped sense of sex, as do we all. Thanks to our Media and Entertainment industries. It amazes me that my statements have been construed to mean I endorse and support the homosexual lifestyle. Please, just for one second, can you arrest your prejudice and just listen. I am not, never will be, supportive of homosexuality or a "gay" culture. But, again, I have no problem with my intimate male relationships either, even if there exists physical attraction or desire. Thanks in part to having had homosexual desires. I take these desires before God, and together we examine it. He knows what we think, we aren't fooling him. The David & Jonathan love will be a mystery until we go to be with the Lord. I merely pointed you to what the Bible says and the language the Holy Spirit chose to convey the type of love they shared. Jesus loves men and calls them to himself. Does this mean he's homosexual? Certainly not. The love God has for us is likened to the love a man has with a women. Quit putting your own predisposed ideas on scripture and claim it's scriptural!

Watching the Eastern sky, Bro. Williams, *sigh*

I have not confused the term. You have. 2 Samuel 1:26 is a lamentation of David for Jonathan where he says, "...thy LOVE ('ahabah)was wonderful to me, surpassing the LOVE ('ahabah) of women." Same word and interesting context because it can in fact describe sexual desire. The desire, interestingly enough that God has for His people. In describing how God views our relationship to Him he uses the two most intimate types of relationships that we can comprehend. The parent/child relationship and the wife/husband relationship. If you don't believe me look it up. http://bible.crosswalk.com/Lexicons/Hebrew/heb.cgi?number=0160

I know it is unfathomable to either of you that two men can be THAT close. That that intimacy might even be pleasing to God. Probably because you have never had the courage, as so many men in our western culture, to explore those emotions with another man without attaching to it a negative stigma. If it were just platonic, unconditional love like you said, David would've had no reason to qualify it with the statement about surpassing the love of women, which is most certainly a sexual love. It's as though, you cannot fathom that the same emotions that cause sexual desire between a man and woman cannot be shared

I think I finally understand what you have been trying to explain now and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have loved and still do love many of my ex lovers. The love has evolved into a more platonic one. I had dinner with my last ex and his new boyfriend just last night. I pray for them almost everyday and plead with God to save them and reveal their incredible need for him. Homosexuality is what originally opened my eyes to my sin and what ultimately brought me to Christ. But my depravity, I've discovered goes much deeper and profoundly than there. Anyway, thank you for your courage in standing up to Bro. Williams' harassing remarks. I had quite a long dialogue with him just today. Not sure what it all meant or why he was testing me so harshly. We Christians, and we humans I might add, are a fear driven bunch. Thank God his grace relieves our fears. What a gentle, loving, kind God we serve. God bless my friend.

Yamil: Quite true you can't prove a biological factor, but neither can you disprove it. Sin, though it cannot be proven in a laboratory is definitely congenital. This is the reason we must be born again. Our first birth is cursed. The second is blessed and reverses the affects of the first. Not immediately and not physically but definitely and spiritually and will be consummated at the last day.

Bravo,

When Jesus preached on the Mount he showed that behaviour begins with the mind. A man is guilty of adultery with a woman by merely lusting after her in his mind. A person commits murder whenever he hates. Does that make sense?
Homosexuality, as all sin, begins in the mind. That is why Paul could also say that all unbelief is sin.

As for the term sodomy being offensive, it really depends on how the person delivers their language. I am not offended by the term because God has freed me from my shame over my homosexuality. He bore it on Calvary and I take it to him when I am tempted to feel it and get offended. The sexual affections of one sex for the same sex is still homosexuality.

Yamil,

Then you would have to blame birth defects and congenital diseases on God as well. Hasn't God declared this a cursed cosmos?

Remember what Jesus told his disciples when they questioned him about whose sin was responsible for the blind man being born blind, he or his parent's? Jesus said neither, but that his blindness was to God's glory and then he healed him. It's the same with any sinner who, feeling their tremendous need, seeks to be made whole by Jesus.

I can tell you I did not make a conscious choice, what so many in the church ignorantly proclaim of homosexuals, to be attracted to the same sex.

Yamil: I posted this awhile ago but I don't think Bravo is with us today.

Bravo: It really matters not about original languages or what the writers originally intended when they wrote about homosexuality. A man who has sex with another man whether from lust or an attempt at dominance is still guilty of "homosexuality" or sodomy. There is no way around it. And aren't you really agreeing with that assessment by your own abstinence?

Bro. Williams,

I doubt any answer will satisfy you. And that makes me sad.

One last attempt though, I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me. Galations 2:20

For by grace I have been saved through faith in this gospel; and this not of myself, it was a gift of God; not by my works, that I should be able to boast.

Ephesians 2:8 & 9.

Don't know what else you want but there it is. Beyond that you are on your own.

Bro. Williams,

There is only ONE saving gospel, and countless counterfeits. But, I know you know that since you seem to know everything.
Au contrair, that's french in case you don't know foreign languages, It means On the contrary......1Cor 6:11 says differently.

Bro. Williams: "that doesn't register as the gospel at the moment."

Of THAT, I am soundly convinced.

Bro. Williams,
Again I profoundly disagree with you. Jesus is the goal! So, you are an expert cherry picker of scripture. What about the Great Commission are you referring to? I am saved AND Spirit filled. I am staunchly Calvinist and reformed in doctrine. I have liberal leanings and I am a Covenantalist. If you had been paying attention I gave a brief testimony to Yamil yesterday. I was saved from my homosexuality initially but have learned my depravity didn't just end there. And far from being perfect my sanctification continues. Are YOU saved and where does Jesus fit in all of your sarcasm?

Bro. Williams look up this word.....facetious. And, by the way, I did not reprove your assumptions about my "lifestyle evangelism" because they were, you can look up this word also, puerile, as is your doctrine and eisegesis.
