historic wrote: Heretics were burned in the 16th century as an accepted form of justice in Europe and the UK. Therefore it was the judiciary who acting upon the current justice and punishment system of the time, sentenced people to the stake. It is therefore a lie to suggest that it emerged from any particular denominational base. This is historic fact but there are those who will twist the facts and serve Satan the father of lies.
I beg to differ. The Reformers did not differ from the RCC in their view of how to deal with heretics and even sought justification from the bible for their attrocities. The fact that the states that were RCC and who then supported the Reformers maintained their stance was only due to the no doctrinal change policy of the reformers.
You can dress it up as you will they believed it was their Christian duty to murder heretics, and this is now hard coded into the WCF so that their misguided children may follow the same 'biblical' approach!
Covenant data wrote: He/she was of the elect of God. Doesn't matter whose family he/she came from. God does know what HE is doing and who His elect are. In missionary situations the first converts are adults. The next generation infants of these converts were baptised by affusion of course, because they were the children of Covenanted parents. Holy children as explained in 1Cor 7:14. The Covenant of Grace - a Covenant ordained and maintained by God - and Christ as the Mediator of this Covenant is for the elect only. Try and remember election John. Eph 1:4,5.
And they would all grow up burning heretics, as is the will of God as taught by the Reformers?
in Covenant with God wrote: Well done Ups. The commentaries catechisms and confessions of the Reformed Church were absolutely accurately Biblical. It makes me so sad that many cannot perceive this truth which God has ordained to bring through ecclesiastical history. The "truth" has always been the truth and the elect alone are enabled by the Holy Spirit to see accept and obey the Bible. John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." Thus the "truth" proclaimed by the Reformed in the 16th century Reformation ordained of God is the same truth the Bible teaches and is obeyed and proclaimed by the Reformed Church today.
Would you kill someone you viewed as a heretic, as the Reformers taught you? They said it's God's will, and if they say so, then it must be, right?
The Jews that are in pysical Israel are not God's "chosen" people. That is unless they have embraced Jesus Christ as their savior and as he has been revealed in the Gospel. God's focus is on building his spiritual Israel.[AUTHOR]John Yurich USA[/AUTHOR]Why would anybody hate the Jews and Billy Graham? The Jews are God's chosen people and Graham preaches that salvation comes only through embracing Jesus as ones Savior and Lord.
