Observer wrote:How retarded of you not to understand the nuances of the word in the NT. "World" hardly ever means every single individual, and more often than not means Jews and Gentiles, and even then not every single one.

So I guess your trying to say Christ didn't want everybody but only some to be saved?

John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Ok. What part of that verse do some have a hard time understanding? Some like to say world doesn't really mean world. How retarded! How about blood? I guess it doesn't really mean blood. Or cross? I guess it doesn't really mean cross huh?

Christ died for every living fallen creature on this planet. That means this whole world has an opportunity to be saved and yes that's everybody. But Christ blood only covers those who are in Christ Jesus (saved). It doesn't save those who reject what Christ has done for them (unsaved).
Who cares what calvinism or Arminianism teach they are both twisted and gospel perverting veiws.

Ok CV you got me I'm in denial. Yeah right. No I'm not an arminian, calvinist, or lutheran. I'm a beliver, a child of God, a reborn christian, a saint according to scripture. You and whoever else are just calvinist, arminians, lutherans, roman catholics, and whatever else y'all wanna call yourselves.

No meaningful answers? I didn't see any meaningful question. Arminian spiritual motto? Thank goodness I don't beleive in neither heresies of Arminianism and Calvinism.
Luther,Calvin, and Armani all were former Roman Catholics. And after reading on their misinterpretions, I'm left with a strong an assumption they were lost, but only God really knows.
Question: do you feel it is vital to preach the gospel to every living creature or just do nothing because it's God who does the "electing"?

Haha... Skydark! Funny! Hey, you shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Apperantly I'm talking to a child who's been corrupted by the teachings of an ex-Roman Catholic. It seems you should spend a little more time in the book but before you can understand it, you should get get saved biblically instead of assuming you've been elected or predestined to go to heaven. Then will the Holy Spirit open your eyes to the truth. Good luck kiddo.

Well duh,
Incase you didn't comprehend what I said about the argument between the two, yes I'm very aware of what this thread is about, duh!

As far as predestined fate, isn't that what you beleive? That only certain are predestined to be saved and the rest are predestined to be damned? Duh!

As far as free will, even after a man is confronted with the gospel and aware of his condition he's in, yes he still has a free will to either accept or reject the free gift from God. Duh!

The whole elect deal, Christ did die for the whole world. He wants the whole world to be saved, that is the Fathers will right? The blood of Christ is mighty enough to save everyone in the whole world but the world must accept what Christ has done for them first. Why will they not? It varies between every person. Duh?

Oh boy here we go with the Arminianism and Calvinism argument.

I'm sure is be said it before that both veiws are flawed. One claims that salvation can be lost and the other claims predestined fate.

Salvation is eternal so Arminianism is not correct.
If we were predestined as calvinism says, then where does free will come in to play?

Well that's easy John Beechy,
1 John 5:13 - These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

1 John 5:11-13 - And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

And your last question: revalations 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

I'd have to agree with teen christian and GS TEXAS on those verses but I've spoke with some lately and it seems ACTS 2:38 is another one to add to the list

All I can say to the pope is
Galatians 1:8&9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Wow! CAB, please stop listening to this mans nonsense.
Esph-2:8 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Grace is a free gift right?
Saved by "faith" right ?
Not of ourselves right?
It is a "gift" from GOD, right?
So let me ask this, whenever you give someone a gift, you give it to them freely right ? You don't ask anything from them, they don't have to do anything to earn it right or pay it back right? Surely not otherwise it was never grace to begin with, same is our eternal salvation. GOD offers it to is freely as a gift, not something we have to pay back. Right?

Teen christian:
I couldn't agree with you more. If that ain't honest I don't know what is. It's interesting when we read about Sodom and gomoah especially in gen. 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
Now we normally think judgement was brought upon them for the grevious sin, which is true but I couldn't help but notice one thing. The "cry" of sodom and Gomorrah. Who was crying? Was it the cry of their sin or was it the cry of the children there? I would think surely it's not those engaging in their wicked lust but instead the children that were being abused by there wickedness. I think those were the cries THE LORD heard. Just an observation

CAB: I'm not a calvinist but these are some verses spoken by te LORD himself

John 3:16
John 6:40
Mathew 25:46
Romans 6:23
John 5:24
John 3:36

There are many more, but you know what they all have in common? Thay all say "eternal life". These verses were written way before Calvin's time. I beleive what the LORDS word says because it came from Him not Calvin or anybody else. So can I ask you why you don't trust Him at his word? Is it something you were taught by some teacher?

GS: well I would like to know if it's what she has taught or it what she's understood on her own. Either way I'm not here to attack her. If anythig share and help her understand maybe but she's got to be the one accept it. I'm not here to force my views and understandings but to simply state them and always open to listen to others veiws wether or not I agree with them our not.

Unprofitable servant:
Sorry brother, been gone all day. Answer to your question, yes I would say those verses where JESUS is speaking to the people and the disciples about dicipleship. The verse what does a man profit if he gains the whole world, yet forfeit his own soul? I see as a general question to the people and the diciples and a very good one I'd say.
And no! I do not share the same views as CAB. The LORD used words as such as everlasting, eternal, forever. How anybody can think that THE LORD didn't mean what he said of eternal life and that we can lose it beats me.

CAB: where in the world did you come up with the conclusion for one second that I'm a calvinist? Second, how have I've offended a young believer by stating the truth we are saved by grace through faith and not of works? If I have offended the young one I surely had no intentions. I was simply reminding that our lordship does not save nor keeps us saved. That's all.
Third: if you claim that a born again believer, a child of GOD can lose his salvation then that tells me you haven't yet trusted the LORD and took HIM at his word when he says everlasting life, eternal life, be with me forever. Those words mean forever not temporarily.
