Unfortunately, Christopher I don't think it'll have to much effect on people. People love their sins. For ex:we're well aware of that chewing tobacco/smoking causes cancer yet people continue on. This is definitely interesting research and worth sharing.
On a side note, some of the choices women make in their beauty care (shampoo, makeup, etc) is also linked to breast cancer. Natural is best. More interesting research is that if a woman allows her body to function properly (reproduce when God opens the womb instead of preventing) her chances of getting ovarian cancer is lowered. If she then goes on to breastfeed the babies God gives her, her chances of getting breast cancer is reduced.
From the article: The one biblical story she wanted to include but didn’t was the wedding at Cana when Jesus turns water into wine, considered his first miracle. But Zondervan was worried about a story featuring wine. “I just love that the first the Jesus does is party!" Says Lloyd-Jones.
Wow!!!! Stuff like this just annoys me. Jesus wasnt some party animal. All that aside, I find the best children's Bible to be the KJV. I personally tend to avoid water down anything-including Bibles. Of course a child wont understand everything they're read from the KJV but that's expected. I don't know a single man that understands everything in the Bible. Not only that but its our job as parents to come along side our children and teach them.
Another place to look at for what a beautiful Christian woman is, is Proverbs 31. There's a lot of virtues there. Proverbs 31:30 sums it up well. Another verse I like to reflect on is Isaiah 53:2- Jesus wasn't physically attractive yet He I the standard we are to strive for.
Exactly Mike. The models in the magazines, actresses on TV, etc are all edited (via computer programs, excessive makeup, wigs, etc. Etc) and they themselves do not look that way.
I think a lot of us have disobeyed Romans 12:2 and have been conformed by the world in what real beauty is. 1 Timothy 2:9, 10 (KJV) make it known that a beautiful Christian woman will be modest, shamefacedness, sobriety, and will have good works. 1 Peter 3:1-6 (KJV) shows that a beautiful Christian woman will be chaste, modest, meek, quiet, and submissive. Nothing about flawless skin or any of the vain things we, women, to my shame, strive for.
‚ÄúThere are people in other religions who are being led by God‚Äôs secret influence to concentrate on those parts of their religion which are in agreement with Christianity, and who thus belong to Christ without knowing it ‚Ķ For example a Buddhist of good will may be led to concentrate more and more on the Buddhist teaching about mercy and to leave in the background (though he might still say he believed) the Buddhist teaching on certain points. Many of the good Pagans long before Christ‚Äôs birth may have been in this position‚ÄĚ (MC, pp. 176-177).
Hhhhmmmm....this isn't the Gospel Jesus or Paul or Peter preached.
Galatians 1:6-9, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another Gospel: Which is not another;but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Romans 16:17 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them."
So when you have 3 litter ones crawling on you, you post early.....what I was saying was that I've been doing some researching on Lewis and his beliefs. I'm surprised by his beliefs and am shocked that Christians defend and recommend him. Personally, I've "marked him" and have all intentions of "avoiding" his books/movies.
In his book The worlds Last night and other Essays on pages 98 and 99 Lewis said, " Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place....certainly the most embarassing verse in the Bible. The one exhibition of error and the one confession of ignorance grow side by side. That they stood thus in the mouth of Jesus himself and were not merely placed thus by the reporter, we surely need not doubt... The facts then are these., that Jesus professed himself (in some sense) ignorant, and within a moment showed that he really was so."
Wow. Would a born again Christian call Jesus, their Lord and Saviour, ignorant?! Blasphemy!
" I had some ado to prevent Joy and myself from relapsing into Paganism in Attica! At Daphni it was hard not to pray to Appollo the healer. But somehow one didnt feel it would be very wrong - would have only been addressing Christ sub specie Apollinis." ( C.S LEWIS A biography page 276)
Posted to soon: Perhaps I misunderstand your point with this statement but it appears your saying we should send our children to public schools in order to disciple other children. If that's the case then I totally disagree with you. The disciples were grown men who had been under the authority/influence of Jesus for years. Children are not grown and are not capable of discipling others when they themselves are still being discipled. Now I agree that we are to go OUT to preach the Gospel but we're not to sacrifice our chilren and disobey God in the name of "evangelism"
