In the know wrote: All who believe are the elect. So, how is it that not all believers agree with your theology, if all the elect know?! As Jesus points out in Matthew 7:21-23 many who think they believe are not the Elect. Denominations such as Anglican, Roman Catholic and other Free will Arminians do not have the true faith which is the gift of God and HE only provides it to the Elect. How you discern the true Elect is from your position as one of the Elect. The Elect have the indwelling Holy Spirit within, and ..... John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: |

same old same old wrote: Answers with a post of a covenant not found in the Bible uses a set of decrees at a council before the foundation of the world that he cannot prove happened, that he somehow is privy to what was said and how it was said and ends with a fallible document made by fallible man. No credibility here, just idolatrous worship of the WCF putting it above the Scriptures. Don't worry! The Elect know. |

Mike wrote: 2) David sang Psalms, accompanied by instruments. If it was good enough for God, why not you? 3) People get stuck in their traditions, then inject them into Scripture 2) By the same token, sacrifice of sheep, bulls and and other ceremonial stuff was once "good enough" for God.3) Traditions are a funny thing Mike. Some are old and some paradoxically have become "modern" traditions??? Like Rewriting the Praise of God in modern times - to suit modern mortal tastes - and of course using musical instruments. "Fifth. Those who contend for the exclusive use of the Scripture Psalter, in the direct and formal praise of God, find in the history of the early Church signal confirmation of their position; for the indications presented by the post-apostolic Church point to the conclusion that, while in the days of miraculous gifts, there may have been transient out-gushings of sacred song aside from the Psalms, the latter alone formed the matter of ordinary praise in the Church, as settled by apostolic authority." [From THE PSALTER IN THE EARLY CHURCH. By The Rev. Jas. Harper, D. D., LL. D. (1891)] |

Lakonikos wrote: 1) David was a sinner. Does that make the Psalms he wrote to praise God sinner's versions? 2)...when others agree with David 1) If you cannot tell the difference between the inspired Word of God, how God wrote the Word, AND sinners attempts at composing hymns, then you have a problem. 2) David sacrificed animals. By the same token do you imitate that too?"I am an old man, and I here declare that I never knew them to be productive of any good in the worship of God, and have reason to believe that they are productive of much evil. Music as a science I esteem and admire, but instrumental music in the house of God I abominate and abhor. This is the abuse of music, and I here register my protest against all such corruption of the worship of the author of Christianity. The late and venerable and most eminent divine, the Rev. John Wesley, who was a lover of music, and an elegant poet, when asked his opinion of instruments of music being introduced into the chapels of the Methodists, said in his terse and powerful manner, 'I have no objections to instruments of music in our chapels, provided they are neither heard nor seen.' I say the same." (Adam Clark, Methodist) |
