Ya know, a lot of the times I read these posts and I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I will say I find some things that need comment are just ignored and things that should be ignored get attention.

It's a good picture of modern Christian-dom or lack of it. Especially for a serious inquirer.

"The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, gave his support, admitting that some baptisms could be a time of “eyes glazing over”."

Yes as a truly Liberal church, [and not a Christian one], the C of E should seek more politically correct mortal pleasing terminology for their liturgies. Perhaps they could try cutting God and Christ completely out of their ceremonies altogether to really please the unchurched.

You know the more we hear about the C of E and its religion the more I am convinced that they are nuts - or just plain ignorant - or both.

Mike wrote:
Why must a deception direct in only a wrong direction?
The implication is within the word itself Mike.

"Deceive" –verb (used with object)
1. to mislead by a false appearance or statement; delude:.
2. to be unfaithful to"

God does not do this - Nor does God NEED to do this.

2 Th.2:10. and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.....

Frank
These are about fallen human capacity - complete with sin working in them.

When man is 'dead in sin' - only God can quicken him from that status/condition. Note the last part of Mk 4:11 - "but those who are outside..." - This is opposite to, "To you has been given the mystery"

God does NOT deceive!
Nor does He require to deceive the creatures HE has created.

This suggesation can only come from a Non-Christian source!

God is sovereign over ALL.

As far as the sinner is concerned when God allows that he should go in a sinful direction then all God needs to do is "ALLOW"

To suggest that God needs to "deceive" one of His creature is to imply that God should direct him in the wrong direction. Viz that the mortal was right - and God changed his mind to do wrong.

THAT
Makes God the author of sin.

Alternatively if God requires the sinner to do what is right - What God does is convert the sinner, provide him with the gift of faith, thus to become a Christian.

"We are not to imagine that God is ever put upon new counsels, or is ever at a loss for means whereby to effect his purposes, nor that he needs to consult with angels, or any creature, about the methods he should take, nor that he is the author of sin or the cause of any man's either telling or believing a lie; but, besides what was intended by this with reference to Ahab himself, it is to teach us, (1.) That God is a great king above all kings, and has a throne above all the thrones of earthly princes. "You have your thrones," said Micaiah to these two kings..." (M.Henry)

btw, Paul's ways pleased the Lord. When were his enemies at peace with him?
Probably right up to the time when they killed him.

Do you think the reason for all this radical 'feminism' and 'homosexuality' is because God has "backed off" from the western nations? (Rom 1:24)

Here is a promise keepsake to help you over that sticky patch in Rom 13.

"That's a question that has to be worked out politically," he offered. "There isn't a specific Catholic Church position"

Typical Roman Catholic UnBiblical stance.

The "church position" should be that of Scripture which is very clear on homosexual practice.

But then whoever said that the idolatrous Roman Catholics were a real Bible believing church!

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

"Gaskell said he is not a "creationist" and his views on evolution are in line with other biological scientists. In his lecture notes, Gaskell also distances himself from Christians who believe the earth is a few thousand years old, saying their assertions are based on "mostly very poor science.""

Seems he was just like the other atheists at the university - just another ignorant reprobate.

This is what he thinks is
"very poor science".

Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

"Pro-life groups in Ireland have voiced their anger after the European Court of Human Rights ruled today that Ireland’s abortion laws breach the rights of women."

What about the 'rights' of the human life in the womb.

Apparently the 'Human Rights' of the European Union exclude THAT human life so that they can legalise their murder.

God commanded "Thou shalt not kill"
The satanic E.U. transgresses this law and is therefore outside the law of God and will be penalised accordingly by God Himself.

Nah 1:2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

"They're trying to take our pain and turn it to their gain,"

Nuh More like
They're trying to take our ($) gain and turn that into our pain.

Now thats more like the line of mammon worshippers.

"But the tragedy, says Parker, is that today's society often cuts God out of the picture, leaving people to come up with their own answers which do not work."

True words, reminiscent of Romans 1:18ff, but there is more to this than meets the human eye. Society itself is not a Christian group, what with reprobates, atheists, false religion and all make up the nation; - society then becomes a large group with a small Remnant of God's people. Which is the way it always has been.

"21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called"

As the Lord Himself points out prayer will not necessarily be heard by Him.

Jer 7:16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.

Jer 14:11 Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. 12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

Muslims cannot use the "NAME"

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

"Five Church of England bishops announced Monday they are converting to Catholicism"

From Anglican Liberalism to the Papal antichrist???

This lot are jumping ship because the poison of Liberalism has taken the C of E further and further away from Christianity and Scripture.

But jumping ship from the corruption of Liberalism, is one thing, - clinging to the sinking heresies of Rome and her idolaltry, relics, icons and unBiblical practices is just another path to sink to hell.

Lots of paths to hell and damnation - only one way to the Kingdom of God.

2Cor 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (KJV)

I wonder if these guys use the NASB?
After all the NASB is an Anglican, Liberal, Vaticanus book, and Jim's buddies Westcott and Hort were Anglican Liberals and held Popish influences and convictions!

"He called on Sicilians, dogged by Mafia extortion and intimidation, to be "ashamed of evil, which offends God and man""

The Protestants have been telling the Popes and papists to do this for five centuries.

This is the guy who does not believe in Christ's resurrection - or anybody elses? This blasphemy is an evil which offends God and Christians!

God states

Heb 11:3 *THROUGH FAITH* we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

If you don't have the gift of faith (Eph 2:8) - THEN you will sadly believe evolution and Mr Darwin.

The Great Inconsistency Of King James Onlyism

Isn't it great and indeed fascinating that the LORD Himself was "KING JAMES VERSION - ONLY" during the centuries following 1611.

What a pity that the modern versions have taken it upon themselves to move away from this historic position.

"Psalm 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it."

Just goes to show how far the Anglican church has gone away from God and towards Satan.

Clearly this vicar is going to hell and is Liberal - NOT Christian!

No wonder that the C of E accepts sodomites and their convictions, instead of the Law of God.

It is amazing what sinners get up to when they invent their own religions. Their entire work appears to be to reject Scripture and embrace man's sin and lusts.

2Peter 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the FILTHY CONVERSATION OF THE WICKED:
8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds)"

Mike wrote:
There are sabbaths....
"Second, the command to rest still remains. We see this most clearly in Hebrews 4. Verse 10 of Hebrews 4 points us to Christ who has finished His work as God did from His and calls us in verse 11 to be diligent to enter that rest. In light of Christ’s fulfillment, verse 9 tells us, “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” The word translated as “rest” here in the Greek is not the same word used for “rest” in the other verses of this chapter. The word here in verse 9 is sabbatismo;" sabbatismos (derived from a transliteration of the Hebrew word for Sabbath). It means “Sabbath-keeping.” There remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God. This is not just a theological understanding or ackowledgment that our rest is in Christ, it is a practical demonstration in the way we schedule and use our time that we are committed to Him. There remains a Sabbath-keeping for God’s people in the New Testament, because just as God completed His work at creation and rested, Christ completed His work of redemption on the cross and rose again and has entered His rest, seated now at God’s right hand." Christ and the Sabbath. By Ken Puls.

PS All days are the Lord's. Do you give him only one?
I was wondering whether we would get to that old cherry Mike.
Question:: Regarding your question, - Does that imply that God was wrong in providing a (one day) Sabbath in the first place in Genesis?

Next Question:: Did Israel also complain about "only one day" for God in OT times?

Now don't forget the Lord's Day is Sunday - and if you are a Christian then the Lord makes it a Sabbath for you.
