Great Sermon! Dear Bro. John,
Thank you for your comment. I suggest you read what Warfield says that I posted under more sermon details. Note how he exalts reasoning and says, "Reason is the instrument of discovering all doctrines and duties." This is very different from what John Knox said and what Paul says in I Cor. 2:9-14. Webster defines the word creed as being an authoritative statement. That is this the error of the Reformers, creeds are their authority. Baptist say the Bible alone is our authority. Primitive Baptists do not have any creed except the Word of God. I will be most happy to discuss this future by email, if you desire.
Our church has been on SermonAudio for over 7 years now. We began with much reservation, but today, we are very thankful for the opportunity we have proclaiming the truth of God to the whole world. It has been a great blessing to our church. I also want to thank the wonderful staff at SermonAudio for their gracious and kind assistance to us broadcast amateurs. You all are great, keep up the good work for the sake of Christ and His kingdom. Pastor Herb Hatfield
Great Sermon! Thank the Lord for this great message and the messenger that has faithfully delivered it. May the Holy Spirit impress on the hearts of all who hear this message the truth of it.
Great Sermon! Dr. Cairns is correct in what he says here, however, he fails to apply this to the false teaching that Christ was crucified on Friday. You can not have a three days and three nights in the grave with a Friday crucifixion and a Sunday morning resurrection.
I believe Christ was crucified on Wednesday, put in the grave that evening and then was resurrected after 6pm on Saturday. That will fulfill the prophecy given by Christ. Remember, when the women came to the tomb on Sunday morning, they found it empty. My thoughts.
If I may add a comment, no one can believe on Jesus Christ until they have been quickened by the Holy Spirit (regenerated). With regeneration there is the implantation of the "seed" of faith, which is manifested by the Gospel.
Great Sermon! I am glad to know that Dr. Cairns is honest with the scriptures and will not accept the Catholic teaching about the death of Christ. He is correct is his position. Christ kept the Jewish Passover on Tuesday night, (Nisan 14) was crucified on Wednesday and came forth from the grave some time after 6pm on Saturday, which was the beginning of the new week, according to Jewish time.
