As it was practiced in America, by biblical standards it most certainly was sin.The only way you could ever find biblical validation for slavery (actually servitude) would be through how it was to be practiced by the people of God, not the nations around them. "Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death." "Now these are the rules that you shall set before them. When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free" In the year of jubilee, all slaves were to be set free. |

And He continues and will continue to give us to the end a line of Ungodly leaders because of our wickedness. Man has a heart condition, and no politician, republican or democrat (or independent) can change that.God has given the nation over to sin. We can pretend that our electorate can change that, but it is too late. God is preparing not only this nation but all the nations for judgement. Cruz, Obama, Clinton, Ryan, won't be able to change that. Recognizing that, I chose to refrain from participating in the political system. They are all the same. They have man's agenda and not God's in mind. How many on either side of the aisle demonstrated any Christ-likeness during the recent government shutdown. I, personally, long for the reign on King Jesus. We would all do well to. |

Let him run. No chance against Hilary, unless, of course, God ordains it. Hard to be a politician and a true believer, because politicians don't have the kingdom of God in mind when they reign. I must say that this site really has been nothing but a vehicle for bashing rather than praying for the current president as we are commanded to do. I don't believe most of what he believes (gay marriage, abortion among them), but I do pray for him as I am commanded to as I did for the believing (God knoweth) George W. Bush. Lest we forget, God raises up leaders and they serve his purposes whether we are careful to acknowledge it or not. Jim Lincoln, I don't believe everything you post, but at least God has given you the ability to see past dangerous political and ungodly affiliations. |

Jim Lincoln wrote: Samphire, Rick Warren is really off base. ...... And all those Americans who defend Piper as the best thing since sliced bread should now also know how off base he is! |
