[You my friend know nothing about the gospel. You err greatly confusing a work with Grace. Christ saves not who we vote for.
[AUTHOR]John Yurich USA[/AUTHOR]Jackson and Sharpton are supposed to be ordained Baptist ministers and they are Democrats? Nobody can be a follower of Jesus and be a Democrat because the Democratic Party supports abortion and homosexuality.
Amen.
I guess being a Campbellite is ok now in "Christian circles" ?
Why don't we stand hand and hand with the Mormons and JWs while your at it!?
The Robertson's believe a different Gospel. Ok.. So they have a form, of Godliness , but they deny the truth. I'm tired of " Christians " calling the Robertson's Christians.. They belong to a cult. Just like Mormons and JWs.
You are slightly off topic.

Point of fact is that slavery practiced in America was in direct contradiction and in violation of God's law. Someone else has pointed out the fact that "man stealing" was clearly something that they were admonished against doing.

No Doubt, creating orphans and widows out of families (Yankee and Dixie) that had nothing to do with slave owning is no righteous thing.
Again, there is no biblical validation for "American" slavery. It was a clear violation of the scriptures. If you wanted to have it, you should have strictly followed the biblical rules I cited for it.

How much "loving thy neighbor as thyself was practiced". How many slaves were subjected to the whip, castrated, families broken up, forced to work on the Sabbath so that some lazy person could gain through cheap labor.

Interesting that God used something as evil as slavery to typify an even greater bondage and that is to sin.

•The Bible acknowledged the slave's status as the property of the master (Ex. 21:21; Lev. 25:46).
•The Bible restricted the master's power over the slave. (Ex. 21:20)
•The slave was a member of the master's household (Lev. 22:11).
•The slave was required to rest on the Sabbath (Exodus 20:10; Deut. 5:14).
•The slave was required to participate in religious observances (Gen. 17:13; Exodus 12:44; Lev. 22:11).
•The Bible prohibited extradition of slaves and granted them asylum (Deut. 23:16-17).
•The servitude of a Hebrew debt-slave was limited to six years (Ex. 21:2; Deut. 15:12).
•When a slave was freed, he was to receive gifts that enabled him to survive economically (Deut. 15:14).

As it was practiced in America, by biblical standards it most certainly was sin.

The only way you could ever find biblical validation for slavery (actually servitude) would be through how it was to be practiced by the people of God, not the nations around them.

"Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death."

"Now these are the rules that you shall set before them. When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free"

In the year of jubilee, all slaves were to be set free.

Slavery was an abomination on the nation. The family unit was broken up as individuals were separated and sold to the highest bidder. God ordained marriage; what right was it for any man to disolve it. How many other commandments were broken for the mere purposes of profiting from someone elses sweat and labor.

You will find absolutely no biblical validation for the American practice of slavery. God raised up Abe Lincoln to rid the nation of the national sin.

Plain and simple. They all should have been put to death as the rebels they were for causing the death of so many patriotic Americans.

Why erect monuments to traitors. They took up arm against a nation they swore to defend. Lee did fight for slavery. If there were no slavery, there, arguably, would not have been a civil war.

Let's not re-write history.

Lee didn't quell his generals from their war crimes against surrending African-American soldiers.

Where it really matters, they didn't uphold the Word of God which had much to say about slavery.

And He continues and will continue to give us to the end a line of Ungodly leaders because of our wickedness. Man has a heart condition, and no politician, republican or democrat (or independent) can change that.

God has given the nation over to sin. We can pretend that our electorate can change that, but it is too late. God is preparing not only this nation but all the nations for judgement. Cruz, Obama, Clinton, Ryan, won't be able to change that. Recognizing that, I chose to refrain from participating in the political system. They are all the same. They have man's agenda and not God's in mind.

How many on either side of the aisle demonstrated any Christ-likeness during the recent government shutdown.

I, personally, long for the reign on King Jesus. We would all do well to.

Let him run. No chance against Hilary, unless, of course, God ordains it.

Hard to be a politician and a true believer, because politicians don't have the kingdom of God in mind when they reign.

I must say that this site really has been nothing but a vehicle for bashing rather than praying for the current president as we are commanded to do.

I don't believe most of what he believes (gay marriage, abortion among them), but I do pray for him as I am commanded to as I did for the believing (God knoweth) George W. Bush.

Lest we forget, God raises up leaders and they serve his purposes whether we are careful to acknowledge it or not.

Jim Lincoln, I don't believe everything you post, but at least God has given you the ability to see past dangerous political and ungodly affiliations.
