Many times a man is down on religion. This may be due to hypocracy, fanatacism, prejudice, bigotry, etc. Let's face it, some of the most un-Christian behavior spews out of professing "Christians". Talk of war and killing, race hatred, lack of empathy for the poor and unfortunate, have in the past (and sometimes today) been promulgated in the name of He who taught against these very things. This can lead to harsh comments which appear to be anti-Christ, while they are really anti-hypocracy. Aren't there many Jews who blame Christ for anti-Semitic behavior? Why? Because many perpetrated anti-Semitic behavior in Christ's name! Well, when some pot bellied, pig faced preacher talks about waging war, expelling minorities, lynching queers etc., all the while shacking up with truck stop bimbos and cross dressing, and boozing it up, and stealing money from the ministry, it reflects on Christ. Remember, the sin of David was not murder, or adultery, but "giving cause to the enemies of God to blaspheme". If you drive a car with a Christian fish on the bumper, and give the finger to another driver, and someone says "you see how those Bible thumpers are?", it isn't Christ they are insulting, even if it seems that way. It's YOU, you hypocrit, that they are down on. |
