Interesting While I appreciate the sentiment behind the dvd series etc, I don't understand why we always have to make the simple gospel so complicated. When I read the bible, I don't see any conditions that are to be put on the poor before we give to them, no micro managing, no return monetary or non-monetary that we are to expect, and no need to have knowledge of 'how they got there' etc. I agree it is always best to develop a relationship with someone so we can help them better but this is not always possible. I dont think we should be hesitant in giving to the poor just because we may not how how they directly put to use our help or because we may not know their 'background'. Jesus just said to give to poor. God will take care of the rest. Yes relationships are best, but the poor also do not want to be treated like they are children who need 'training'.
Wow. This is news item is seriously disturbing and sad.
From the article: "“The fact of the matter is nobody did care,” Ms. Hawkins said. “I couldn’t believe people didn’t care that someone was watching pornography in public. I couldn’t believe society has come to this."
Like the proveribal forg being slowly boiled to death by degrees in a pot of hot water, society is gleefully walking on its way down to hell. I cannot believe anyone would think it is ok for people to be viewing these vile images in public. It's getting to the point that you would not even want to take your child to mass public places if this risk is around. Sickening!!!
Great Sermon! Why would any Christian go to see this movie? I only saw a ten second clip on the tv about this new movie and I was sickened by the sadistic violence in it. I seriously do not understand why christian and christian homeshooling people would defile themselves by watching this and going to these dens of immorality that broadcast these movies. Don't miss the real point here.
Great Sermon! Thought provoking and disturbing-as I've accepted the teaching of impressions and "losing" the peace of God as ways in which the Holy Spirit most often guides Christians into the will of God. Hope to hear more on this topic!
Jim Lincoln wrote: They could leave "One" off the name. We are most assuredly not "One World" I Peter 2 9But ye are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that ye may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; 12having your behavior seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Jesus' last words on earth were that we are to go into all the world to make disciples (followers of Christ)...etc. Anyone's last words are always the most important. Therefore it must be the main thrust for a church (which is build by Jesus)to bring the Good News of salvation first to those around us - our neihgbors - then to our city etc. A church has God's mandate to teach the people to do the work of the ministry...that is, getting people into HIS Kingdom.
How can any human being who doesn't believe in His creator waist so much time (and money) to have the words 'under God' removed. The USA is a deocratic country and since the majority believes there is a God, how can one man even think he can get his way passed as a minority of your country? This man needs prayer as it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God
