“ Listen to This! ”
The solemn manner of the delivery of Brother Fulton manifests that he, in his heart, believes what he says. And the broken spirit, contrite heart, and trembling in awe at the God whom he represents and the truth he proclaims, demands that he be looked upon and listened to as one to whom our Lord "looks." He speaks "not with enticing words of man's wisdom," but in a sweet, broken demonstration of the Spirit and power — that your faith should not stand in the pretty sermons and wisdom of men or preachers, but only in the power of God. Lay down your precise theological expression and hear this vessel of our Master, and may our Lord be pleased to break hearts and lay us all at the footstool of Him who sits on the throne, having got there by way of a bloody Cross where He became sin for His poor people, helpless sinners. |
