If we can step off of the Pape-Prot express for a minute, I believe that another message is apparent in this article, and that is the trouble that occurs when a state church (may we never have one) becomes "God's voice" in a political contest. Whether a voice for the left as occured in Latin America, or a voice for the right, as occured in Spain, the end result is un-Godly to say the least.

At the root of all "atheist" publications, positions, statements, philosophies etc is the contempt for organized religion. I dare say that where organized religion with it's pomposity, hypocricy, and mean spiritedness is found, atheism abounds more. Most who preach righteousness, do so out of the conviction that they have more of it than those to whom they are preaching. The bitterness and rancor that soaks this forum like an oily rag cannot be denied except by the most dishonest of men. God ends up taking the rap for those who abuse the spirit of His Word with the letter of their bigotry. Whether it's Catholic priests molesting children, or Evangelicals employing harlots, or Moslems blowing up buildings, or Jews manipulating the world, they all hound the rest of mankind for it's shortcomings in the name of the Almighty.

The mob used almost exclusively Mormon dealers when they opened the casinos in Las Vegas. Reason: "They don't steal, and they themselves don't gamble, drink, or flirt with the cocktail waitresses". They just assisted the customers who did.

Your are right Neil. Sadly, extremely right! The Mideast is a murderous jungle not fit for civilized people. Which is why all the civilized Jews and Americans ought to get out of where they don't belong. Just what do you have against Christ's admonishment to "feed the hungry"? You find Christianity in waging war, and Satan in feeding the poor and helping the aged. What's wrong with this picture?

This is rich! We pour billions into Iraq, killing and maiming our military personnel as well as countless innocent Iraqi civilians, making the region "safe" for Israel who spends squat on the mission, and our arch-enemy Iran begins banking and advisory missions in Iraq. Guaranteed, the Iraqi population will welcome Iranians while pushing to get the Americans out. Well done, Mr. President. You couldn't have screwed things up more if you were Howdy Doody. Try shutting your mouth instead of making John Wayne comments and working with ALL the people in the region to bring about a fair resolution even if you don't like them. Then return the troops to protect our borders from illegal immigration, and use the money you save to shore up pensions and medical coverage.
