Great Sermon! Rob Bell is unconverted and possibly... very possibly, even under the wrath of God in the form of judicial blindness and maybe even judicial abandonment. He definitely does not have a primary mark of conversion which is the fear of God.
Deuteronomy 28:63 (AV) And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought... The key verbs "destroy" and "rejoice" in the Hebrew אבד (abad) and שוש (suws), respectively defined, perish, die, exterminate, kill, put to death...; joy, glad, rejoice, delight. In context, this passage speaks to His covenant, chosen people. Not saying that Piper is wrong, for his quote of Scripture is correct. But this passage ought to give us pause. I, however, would never compare the inherently finite, corrupt, mind of mankind to that of Almighty God... I fear Him too much to make such a statement, and Scripture refutes such a notion in multiple passages. But, then again, Mr. Piper is much more learned and experienced in Scripture than I.
EXCELLENT SERMON ! ! ! Pastor Baucham delivers a most excellent sermon here. If anybody is having a problem with accepting / understanding the doctrine of unconditional election... THIS IS THE SERMON FOR YOU / THEM. Are you wondering, "What do I tell someone who has been a 'Christian' for xx years, who believes they are the final arbiter of their own salvation, i.e. accept or reject Christ?" Just give them a copy of this sermon. What will be more telling is their response after they have listened to it. This was a very courageous sermon to deliver, obviously empowered by the grace of God's indwelling Holy Spirit.
EXCELLENT EXPOSITIONAL SERIES! A SURE CURE FOR TODAY'S GREASY-GRACE, "CHURCH-LITE" THAT PREVAILS IN THE MAJORITY OF WESTERN EVANGELICAL CHURCHES TODAY!
I recently finished listening to this 8-part exposition without undue interruption. This exposition should be required learning in all of our institutions of "higher theological learning". There is a drought of this kind of preaching that cuts a straight path through the Bible right to the hearts and minds of congregants, deacons, and elders. I highly encourage the study and application of this exposition, even if you [think] you're attending a "reformed" Church. Pass on the link to the Elders of your Church. The reaction, or lack thereof, can be quite telling. The series, while being very convicting corporately, holds equal weight to us as individual members of the local body.
Excellent Sermon! As usual Rev. Dowling does an excellent job drawing a distinction between the "Regulative Principle" commanded by God in His Holy Word, and the modern-day apostasy aka "The Normative Principle". Brother Dowling is certainly among the remnant of Biblical preachers in our times.
Excellent Sermon! So very applicable for any true Christian trudging through the mass apostasy within so-called churches in our western society in these times. Rev. Dowling speaks truth in his sermons and I personally regard him a Brother in Christ. His exegesis of God's Word, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, is most consoling to me in this day and age, and I listen to him regularly along with Pastor Albert N. Martin and Pastor George McDearmon.
