I think many of those African countries are Muslim dominated, and Muslims do not have a nice treatment for sodomites---they apply the death penalty! Though I have heard from an oil company worker who was stationed in the area years ago that sodomy was widely practiced. The idea that the Muslim martyrs will enjoy 72 virgins does not specify female virgins. And in Pakistan, I heard they have a saying comparing a sheep, a woman, and a young boy. This came up from that story about the American soldier who opposed what was one the Afghan soldiers was doing to a young boy. In the end, the American soldier lost out. So, though they say one thing in their book and officially, they behave totally different.
Wasn't there a case of a German family that was homeschooling their children, and the govt. really persecuted them so that they emigrated to the US (settling in Tennessee, I believe), and then there was questions about them claiming persecution to qualify as 'political refugees.' I don't remember how that turned out, do you?
