1. Paul was accused of being lawless or of encouraging sin. There is no way that they would accuse him of this if he was going around telling jewish believers that they were still under law.

2. Galatians 3:24. Paul was a Jew, thus when he says 'our', he means 'us Jews'. We assume here he is including Gentiles.

3. Galatians 3:24 sits between 3:23 and 3:25. What key words do you see?

23 Now before faith came, we were HELD CAPTIVE under the law, IMPRISONED UNTIL the coming faith would be revealed.
24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
25 BUT NOW that faith has come, we are NO LONGER under a guardian

4. What sense does this make if we are under the Sabbath?

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. - Romans 14:5

5. Read the epistles and notice the grounds of motiviation Paul uses to stir people to action. I don't see "keep the law". Instead, I see love as you were loved, forgive as you were forgiven, Walk by the Spirit.

6. Set the confessions aside and read the Bible as is. Derive your own understanding by the power of the Spirit.

The author can be found on SA. Another good work is "Law of Christ" by Charles Leiter, who is also on SA.

The book "Christ is All: No Sanctification by the Law" opened my eyes to what these verses are actually saying without any glosses. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. - Hebrews 8:13

For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. - 1 Corinthians 9:19-21

Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain-if indeed it was in vain? Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith-just as Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"? - Galatians 3:2-6

For sin will have

... speak evil of no one, avoid quarreling, be gentle, show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. - Titus 3:1-3

4 Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.
5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,
8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?
9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory.
10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
11 For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. - 2 Corinthians 3:4-11

Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. - Titus 3:1-3

But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, "Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. - Hebrews 10:32-39

Thanks for discussing this. I was wondering about Romans 3:19. Your ministry is a blessing to me. Thank you.

Good point. I speaking more about the tone (seems inflammatory) of the article vs the action of sending sermons. If the sending of the sermons is some type of vengeful action, then it is wrong (Matthew 5:39-41, Romans 12:19, Titus 3:1-3).

What does the Gospel of Jesus Christ have to do with the First Amendment? Martin Luther attacked false doctrine. Our weapons are not carnal. The Gospel, not the US Constitution, is the answer. 2 Cor 5:17

So much for humility and instead praying for those who persecute us.

To John's point:

For although they KNEW God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:21

“ Great Audio Book! ”
Thank you for providing this free audio book. I am benefiting greatly from the material in it. It is eye-opening--as radical as the biblical doctrine of election. I am seeing things that I once glossed over. Coming out of Way of the Master evangelism and Reformed thinking, the information in this book is causing a welcomed paradigm shift for me.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 3:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

“ Legitimate Discussion ”
Good Discussion. Legitimate questions. Because most people incorrectly believe that good works get you into heaven, they believe that if a celebrity does charity work, this means they are saved. Not necessarily.

The full gospel would be better. The law cannot change anyone's heart, though if they do this, it would probably best to also include the correct and full application of that commandment, which was given by Jesus. Murder starts in the heart.

The return of our Lord Jesus Christ is not contingent on the continued degeneration of America. America is not the center of the universe.

"My Hope _America_". This is one of the problems in modern American Christianity. It is myopic and essentially is looking for some utopian society in this present age. It is hope in a temporal nation, rather than in our Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ.

Agree. Two James' that think alike. These polls/statistics get old to me because they lead people into a deterministic belief system. e.g. If I bring up my kids in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4), they WILL be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.
