“ Great Sermon! ” Excellent reading of the incomparable Edwards. A very different spirit from our modern lukewarm, worldly, unholy Evangelicalism. Refreshing and edifying!
The Bible is not a record of the spiritual evolution of man, but rather the repository of truth for all time. It's condemnation of perverse and unnatural sexual practices is not the opinion of unenlightened men, but the word of God. Any preacher that says otherwise is justifying the wicked. Does the Bible condemn bond-servitude? No! Does it recognize the property of a master in his servant? Absolutely! Just read the tenth commandment: "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's." Exodus 20:17. Let God be true and every man a liar.

I learned about the Puritan Hope from Ian Murray forty years ago, and I have loved this truth for all these years, but I have never heard it set forth with the clarity, logical force, simplicity and conviction that you have brought to the subject. God bless you! I am moved to tears. I will be sharing this with anyone who will listen.
