The Word of God says that faith is enough by itself to save. Faith and repentance are inseparable. One who turns to the Lord to be forgiven of their sins has repented. Repentance is NOT turning from our sins to come to Christ; but rather, turning toward God to be forgiven of our sins by faith in Christ. This has always been my interpretation.
Thanks lads for the input. I'm still learning. I'm young in the faith so forgive me. But I love listening to different preachers and sermons and It's recently grabbed my attention when hearing a lot of preachers talking a lot about repenting. So in other words to repent and truly be saved its a change of lifestyle correct?
Christopher000 from Rhode Island writes: Sure is, Heath...a whole lot of works, and a whole lot of praying to the saints along with the mother of Christ in the flesh, but thanks to Purgatory, everyone gets to Heaven...eventually.
Yeah eventually.. Ikr! That's what gets me is how these false popes and bishops keep these pour people in bondage so they can control their souls. That is simply unscriptural, ungodly, and flat out wicked!
If belief is all that is necessary for salvation, then the logical conclusion is that one need never repent. However, the Bible tells us that a false convert "believes" and yet is not saved..."
This is a quote from Ray Comfort and from the looks of it, it kinda sounds like a work based salvation. I thought faith alone and nothing else was the biblical way of salvation. I might be wrong but that sounds like faith plus works to me.
I think I understand now in regard to repentance. Repentance is not turning from our sins to turn to Christ, but rather, turning towards Gid for forgiveness of our sins in our faith in Lord Jesus Christ eh?
Oh! Thanks Gs . Repentance? That's another thing I hear a lot now days. What exacalty are people referring to repentance when giving the plan of of salvation to someone. What are they telling someone to do when they say repent?
Yes Anthony B. Your correct jesus did say if you love him you'll keep his commandments. And yes jesus is god. And yes the Ten Commandments are his. But correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there one cammandment Jesus demanded us to keep? I beleive it was to love one another. Not just those who love us but also to love our enemie as hard as it might seem. I'm by no means supporting this young man with his problem with homosexuality and I'm grieved at the fact he tore pages out of the bible. But for those other students to tell him he's going to hell because he's gay. Need I remind that Jesus blood covers us from "ALL" sin. And if those students who were attacking this young man even though they're not gay don't get saved they'll drop into hell just as fast.
In other words instead of attacking someone because they're committing a sin we should be reaching out I them and presenting the gospel to try to save them. Agree?
Come on JY not all homosexuals have a hatred for god. And yes Roberto we need to pray that the Holy Spirit works in this young mans life to help him with this sin but we also need to pray for each other for the Holy Spirit to help deal our own sin also.
Wow! Another denomination basing their beliefs and doctrine off of one part of scripture and on top of that, they take it completely out of context. The sad part is I'm sure somebody has tried to explain to them and teach them what they're doing is rediculous and I'm sure they've acted like the one correcting them was the one who was lost. Lol! Sad. Just praying for them
