That is surprising that Nabors is a homosexual considering that he is a Baptist.
I'm surprised at you implying that being a Baptist would make one immune. Only reliance on the Holy Spirit can do that.

"Since then Fiji has suspended the constitution, detained opponents and suppressed freedom of speech."

Sounds like a precursor to what's happening in the USA.

Fascinating article! I only hope his book is as seemingly neutral. And if he continues to pray perhaps he will cease to pray to himself and start praying to the Lord. One hopes this is a first step to salvation for him.

And how many 12 years old and their writings do you know personally that you can make such a judgment?

I used to like Osteen but not anymore now that Osteen likes Obama.
I find it rather sad that you dislike Osteen only because he likes Obama.

I like Osteen as a motivational speaker but I do not accept him as a Christian leader.

Their endorsement of Obama is a reflection of the shallowness of their acceptance of God's Word. They are false shepherds and this is further proof.

janine wrote:
Any person of God that lives better than their lowest flock member is a fake.
Aren't you overstating a bit?

Most pastors have secular jobs which may or may not pay more than that of "their lowest flock member" nor are they supported financially solely by their church (which would be a sad thing indeed if the church gave them so little support that they were lower than the lowest). And today, when so many have lost jobs, it's all too easy for the pastor to live "better than ..." so saying they're fake is a bit harsh.

Granted there are all too many fakes preying on the naive but I wouldn't look askance at a pastor unless his economic position was truly disproportional to that of his flock.

Pastor Mike wrote:
No, overpopulation and environmental destruction are evil.
Overpopulation is a myth. God told our first parents, Adam and Eve, and our second parents, Noah and his sons, to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. He is also the One Who opens and closes the womb. There will never be overpopulation.

As for the environment, only the Garden of Eden was accorded special care by man and that by order of God Himself. This world is on a countdown clock and will be replaced by one that is incorruptible.

And what a happy family the Duggars look to be! God has truly blessed!

The same infantile cry to ban divorce is the same which desired to ban slavery. Never mind the fact that while both are undesirable, the Word of God sanctions and regulates both.
While God does indeed regulate divorce and slavery He never sanctions either. Those things come from man's corruption and His regulations provide relief from the worst abuses of them.

"Some of his supporters are condemning the hearing, due to begin Aug. 25, as a "heresy trial." They say the trustees want to harden the school's national reputation as a fortress of ultra-orthodox Calvinism, and purge perceived "liberals" from the faculty."

"Enns' defenders insist that the seminary needs a mix of progressive and conservative scholars."

"Westminster was created in 1929 after Princeton Theological Seminary, the flagship of Presbyterian scholarship in the United States, took a liberal turn."

Thank God for the faculty standing for their principles and not abandoning their roots for the praise of liberal and progressive men.

"The prophet's eyes reddened, and I could sense his frustration as he sized us up as two more likely nonsubscribers. As he dropped his head in contemplation, it occurred to me: How terrible it must be to believe what this man truly appears to believe, and yet have so few willing to listen."

Pity and pray for him and his believers. When one's core beliefs are based on a lie ["All of them had broken with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over polygamy and other departures from what they believe was the original vision of the church founder Joseph Smith. And all said they regarded Freeborn a prophet."] one is susceptible to any and every untrue thing.

Jim, excellent witness and excellent scriptural reference!

Here's another ref:

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? -- Romans 10'14

How sad that this "minister" has forgotten the Great Commission and that non-believers ARE the church's burden. It matters not how the Word is received; that's our Lord's concern. The minister's obligation is to scatter the seed, and He will see to the ground upon which it falls.

"He that has ears to hear, let him hear" for "faith comes by hearing"

It is none of that priest's business how his parishioners voted.
Of course it's his business! He's responsible for their spiritual well being. Part of his job description is maintaining spiritual standards and ensuring the congregation knows what those standards are and abides by them. I recommend you read 1 Corinthians 5 and consider Paul's reaction to a congregation acting like it was none of their business.

Sorry ADC, but membership doesn't necessarily equal holding the same beliefs. A member of a different denomination may have beliefs closer to oneself than a fellow member of one's own church. And the larger the congregation the wider the views. Nor does the historic nature of a church protect it from apostasy or heresy. One could say that Judas, a member of the Twelve, had BASICALLY the same beliefs as the other apostles yet he obviously didn't believe as the others did. BHO may not be a Muslim but he's definitely not a Christian either.

As an addict myself I know how hard it can be to break this thing. I need the computer for school and work so I compare it to an alcoholic who has to work at the town liqour store or bar. That being said if I ever, EVER were to be overpowered by that temptation at school or work you can bet I would possibly be suspended/put on probation from the school and fired on the spot from work. I say it's good of the church to give the pastor a chance to get over it and work with him, but I agree in any other profession he would be dismissed. It's not a question of the moral correctness of pornography (it is immoral though I do struggle with it)because the world really doesn't care what a person looks at on his own time, the thing that gets the person fired is using the company equipment and indulging in these things 'on the clock'. It's a real temptation though.
Brother, you are in my prayers to stand strong against these temptations. Thank you for being courageous enough to confess it publicly.

How shameful, but certainly not a surprise. I don't see where the denomination is of any importance, for sin has always infiltrated all denominations. The true bride of Christ is from every denomination; tribe, tongue, nation...Sexual immorality and perversion are more and more prevalent in our society as Christ is continually rejected, and people live for their own fleshly lusts and desires, having no fear of the Living God, and denying His authoritative word.
So soo true.
I feel so sorry for his family. At least he had the sense to resign and the PBC wasn't slow in accepting his resignation.

What's really sick is that he's old enough to be a 13yo's grandfather. I doubt this is his 1st time but I'm afeared he may be like one of the RC priests that's been preying on youngun's for decades. Hopefully they'll throw the book at him and he'll have true godly repentance for his sin.

Where in the bible does it say, 'if you are close to being a Southern Baptist, you may have eternal life? McCain isn't a member, but his wife is. So does he plan on riding on her 'spiritual coattail' through the pearly gates? None of the candidates are blood bought born again Christians. There is an urgent need for prayer concerning this upcoming election. Let us not neglect our duty to pray for this nation.

God bless Tony Robles! Past time someone exposed the obscenity that is Affirmative Action. Another great liberal idea poorly executed and bringing about more suffering than it purportedly alleviates.

I wonder if N. T. Wright has considered the 2000+ verses that highlight God's sovereignty indicating that He is the ulitmate cause of evil. He does not sorrow over injustice nor poverty, but considers these to be necessary for His just purposes.

Pray tell what 2000+ verses you're referring to "indicating that He is the ulitmate cause of evil"?! The cause of evil is man's pride, arrogance, and rebellion against God. I refer you particularly to James 1'13,14. I take great exception to you blaming God for man's folly!

I don't see why anyone in their right mind would celebrate easter. The Lord was neither killed at nor arose at easter. Rather He was killed at Passover (April 19 this year) then arose during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. That's when I'll celebrate the anniversary of His rising -- and without the eggs and bunnies nonsense.

You have paraphrased my views.

I sure hope that Billary does not get the Democratic nomination. I hope that Obama gets the Democratic nomination. But if Billary gets the Democratic nomination then I as a lifelong Republican will be forced to write in my own nominee because I believe that Obama's, Billary's, and McCain's political, religious, and moral views are too far out and I don't support anyone else (e.g., Huckabee, Paul) that's running.

It is a good idea to teach everyone in America about communism as soon as possible because as soon as Clinton or Obama get in to office, communism will become our new system of government.
In the early '70s my family moved to Florida where one of the high school graduation requirements was a course in "Americanism vs Communism". That course was wonderful! I came away with an appreciation for our way of life and an understanding of the evils and failures of Communism and Socialism. I also felt that it should've been required nationwide.

But this in Californication is something else all together. Actually it was just a matter of time 'til something like this happened. Most of the influential people there are Socialist liberals. Unfortunately, our next President probably will be one too.
