“ Beauty in the eye of the beholder-Prov 32:8 ”
What the Thailand guy thinks is beautiful might not be beautiful for the US crowd. I've also read that it is illegal in Singapore to chew gum. They are very strict on littering, so chewing gum leads to leaving it on the pavement in many places. To prevent that, it's illegal to chew gum at all!

Jesus said that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were still alive (see Matt 22:32), so it is understandable that Moses would also be alive (but not walking on the earth) when later events occurred.
It's all in the interpretation you make.

Do a quick web search for these key words: "law firm involved in autism-vaccine issue' for a CNN article about the British study--now retracted--that linked childhood vaccines to autism.
Vaccines always have risks, as do any medical procedures. But the greater risk for the entire population--as being experienced in Europe today--is that more kids will get sick from the diseases the vaccines prevent.

I am glad I was given the polio vaccine when it came out. When I see an adult struggling today with those infamous 'polio crutches' I can almost be sure that they are older than me.

When I needed a tetanus booster shot, I was more than happy to get the new TDP vaccine, though it did give me something like a cold for a day or two.

Too bad the story is not about these Native Americans having a 'come to Jesus' moment from reading the Bible in their own language.
Or is the real intent to declare these modern descendants a tribe so they can open their own casino?
Does New England need another Native American casino?

I would not assume that all homeschoolers (in NC or any state)are Christian, teaching conservative political values, respectful of the US Constitution, etc.
It is bad news for Christian Schools and that is bad news for many churches that operate schools (and perhaps make more money from them than they get from 'tithes and offerings').
By the way, it is not an exclusive John Birch Society news story; a quick web search reveals other sources, like the Heritage Foundation, carry the same info.
But if Jim Lincoln likes to see the John Birch Society in everything, maybe he should look into the SermonAudio website for connections.

They may still have the Bibles in their buildings, but they teach in their seminaries how to apply them in their sermons, and you wouldn't like what comes out, if you like the kind of sermons you hear at SermonAudio.
And then, as to the same families continuing to attend them, that goes back to the comments posted around the Osteen-blasphemy story reported here--why are people going to those (or any other) churches? To make a good impression on others, so they will buy stocks, insurance, autos, hardware, bank with them on weekdays? Because it's something we do for the kids? Because "the family that prays together, stays together-PRoverbs 32:2? Because they like the stained glass windows, the tall roof, the Christmas decorations or program?

Small churches have problems that don't make it into the national media, and if reported in the local newspaper, who reads them? And who reads them to discover any scandal before attending a church they see on the corner?
As to denominations, many of those churches on the street corners represent liberal theologies that do not believe in the Bible as many readers of SermonAudio do. You could end up at a Methodist church that has a homosexual as pastor!

I think this city is trying to get on one of those interminable lists of "best cities for..." that appear on the web. In this case, they could make the case for being the best city for people making less than $35k/year. I've read that California is becoming that kind of state because of all the 'free' programs for lower-income folks.
As for the theology of this, I'm sure many liberal preachers will be supporting this, using some verses from the Old Testament like Micah's 'love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly..."

Not a problem here for me. Many people have life coaches. Chaplain always sounded a bit Catholic for me, anyway. And I am surprised they allow that in a public high school. But then, when it comes to football, it does approach a religious level of devotion.

I certainly hope someone is tracking this new group in some kind of Encyclopedia of Denominations. I heard there were hundreds, if not thousands.
A good cartoon showed a classroom with a chart with all the branches coming down, and the teacher saying, "And here is where we got it right"

Another thought on the govt schools vs. homeschooling issue: one spouse will have to stay home to do the homeschooling, so their income will not be counted in their Social Security 35-yr long work history that their benefits will be calculated on.
The family may be able to live on one income, but have they thought of this Social Security reduction?
A solution could be to have the kids get to work ASAP, and then the parents can open IRA accounts for them so that much of their income is tax-free.
Another solution is to have the kids in govt schools or homeschools take Advanced Placement tests to gain credit for college before they graduate from high school.

I think Driscoll fell prey to the temptation common in any Christian ministry that focuses on one leader--arrogance.
The public comes to these leaders, thinking they have the One Solution for their problem, the Key to Unlocking Scriptures, etc.
If they read the Good Book for themselves, they would find Jesus telling his followers that the Holy Spirit would guide them into all truth.
But it is easier to turn on a TV show or a radio program to hear some man or woman saying they have the 5-step or 8-step solution to our problems.
