A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? 7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
The point I've been trying to make, (although rather poorly),is the sovereignty of God. How God is in control, and how God,being who He is,can and will use anyone he see's fit,(or unfit),to bring glory unto Himself. Much like it says in the Bible, about the potter and the clay, He is our creator,we are His created.Who are we to say to Him,you can't do it this way or that. That I hope clarifies my position. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.(Isaiah 55:8) That says it better than I ever could.
John UK, I hope I,m Not becoming a nuisance, but if at first you don't succeed...
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; 5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me. 6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, "MY SERVANT"; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. 7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. 8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. (Jer 27:4-8) I,m not saying this excuses this king's ungodliness. But only that God used him to fulfill His divine purpose.
John UK wrote: ... These days I tend to be convinced only by biblical arguments, and so far I have not heard one biblical example mentioned. And I still believe that God does not call men out of cults and false religion through a member of a false religious cult....
John, maybe this will qualify as an example of scripture evidence that you seek.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. 19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Phil 1:15-19)
..."Curtis denied he meant for the note to teachers to stir up controversy or deter the group from forming. He told the station the "tone" of his memo to faculty members "was taken out of context."
"...Please check with me or your attorney if you need clarification so I can avoid termination proceedings for those of you that don't believe me or wish to test this concept," Curtis wrote. "I'm being somewhat of a smart a&*, but I trust 'You're feeling me!'" It's a common mistake.Easy to see how his "tone" was "taken out of context" LOL.
HornNest wrote: Well Jim, looks like replacement theology is alive and kicking! Lol These guys really believe that God lied to the Jews and that the promises to the Jews are all meaningless!! And BTW John and company, it is not just dispensationalists that believe this, all premills also believe that God has a plan for the Jews. Check out what Spurgeon had to say on this subject!!
I would suggest that you read Paul's letters prayerfully and slowly.Especially Ephesians chapter 2. Maybe God in His mercy will open your eyes to the truth.
John UK wrote: Truth be told, David, just as soon as some of the Canadian churches say "No" to the Authorized (King James) Version of the Holy Bible, they begin to deteriorate. They become flippant, irreverent, lose their cutting edge doctrine, lose their committed members, veer towards ecumenism and the New Age philosophy, begin singing pop songs and start to use the Mission Praise Songbooks, accept women leaders and preachers, begin a prophetic school, hold Alpha Courses , have mens' breakfasts with a little talk afterwards, confuse newcomers with a plethora of bible versions, spend a fortune on electronic equipment, put their members off preaching in the street about FIRE and BRIMSTONE, join with local churches without considering their doctrinal position, and will eventually end up under the papal antichrist pseudo-church known as The Roman Catholic Church, which church pronounces anathema on all like myself who will not accept popeye as the Head of the Church, which position is exclusively for THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!!
You neglected to mention their "golf outings",that keep them from doing the things they should be.
Doctor wrote: Please don't say that. His rantings have junked up these forums for years, and have added to the many things he will have to answer for. Not to mention that encouraging him reinforces his narccisitic delusions. This man needs help.
Just trying to be nice to him, thought it might be therapeutic.
Jim Lincoln wrote: Which Casey, David? I know Gil Rugh never signed any such Manhattan Declaration. Shame on Albert Mohler if he did! Huh, looking around the 'net I see he did, Why I Signed "The Manhattan Declaration", directly out of the horse's mouth. Anyway, may pastor wouldn't because he would no doubt consider it Reversing the Reformation. (Well as best as I can say as any member of IHCC but not AS a board or staff member of IHCC.) I think more is lost than gained in such ecumenical ventures. Protestant leaders can support freedom of religion principles as individuals and have just as great an impact.
I like you Jim, you're a funny guy. You're comments are like a box of choc-o-lates, you never know what your gonna get.
John UK wrote: Now there's a thing.... 1. My mind is closed. 2. I've dug my heels in. 3. I'm a hypocrite. 4. I'm holier than you. 5. I'm not worthy discussing with. Whatever next? I could wish that Glen Beck would come on this forum and see how you talk with him, bro. Now THAT would be interesting. The first thing I would do is present Christ to him as God manifest in the flesh for us poor sinners, that he might take away sins by his sacrifice, and rise again to be a living Saviour/God for all who trust HIM, not themselves. Come on Glen
AS for #4, I never said YOU,I said SOME. Wasn't aimed at you personally. just wanted to set the record straight, for what it's worth.
Great news for all those opposed to the restoring honor rally. Rev.Al Sharpton, Rev.Jessie Jackson and Ben Jealous (gotta love that name),are having a rally of their own in D.C. on 10/02/10. I really can't wait to hear the critique of it here on SA. Should be very interesting. I'm glad that two of those involved are "Preachers" that must mean, it must be good!
Yes, God forbid he hold a rally to raise funds for widows and fatherless children.Heaven knows we have enough "REAL CHRISTIANS" in this great nation of ours doing that.Or do we? does anyone remember that this was one of the main purposes of the rally,to raise funds for (SOWF)? Oh that's right,Glenn is of that demonic Mormon church. We better start recollecting that money,so it isn't used to further Satan's kingdom here on Earth. Have some of you even thought about some of your posts? Have you ANY idea how "HOLIER THAN THOU" you guys sound? FYI The Mormons are pretty hacked-off at Glenn too,I guess you all are in good company. If we could only realize, who we are,and what we deserve. We might be less inclined to criticize and condemn. I know He's a Mormon, but there are a lot of "real christians" out there who should have done what he did. Maybe if this does fail, the next time God will use YOUR denominational leader to "restore honor", I guess THEN everything will be A-OKAY. BTW If we ALL got what we DESERVED,we'd ALL be DESTROYED in hell.
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: 39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
Wise counsel, who are we,other than sinners saved by grace. Remember the saying "there but by the grace of God,go all of us".
