Prayer is one of the weapons in our struggle with Satan and his forces, and those who serve him such as the atheist. We are to pray for these who attack and fight against us.
Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. King James Version
1Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; *K.J.V*
"Missionaries have found that by starting with the Koran’s Jesus story, they can make inroads with Muslims who reject the Bible out of hand."
The suggestion here is that the missionaries are rejecting the Bible, in that it is the Word of God which the Holy Spirit will use to teach the elect of God. We do not need to apologise for the Sword of the Spirit. - Unless you are doing belief by intellectual assent!!
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the SWORD of the Spirit, which is THE WORD OF GOD. K.J.V.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." K.J.V.
Lurker wrote: Thank you for having a look, Bert. Your casual dismissal reveals your teflon coating.... the mark of an accomplished apologist.
I think Lurker is correct here.
Bert is not going to 'debate' in these posts, Biblically or otherewise.
He is going to 'pontificate' over what essentially he see as erroneous utterings of a non-church!
2John 1:9 "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:"
The Roman Catholic church remains a building full of idolatrous statues which are graven images and an abomination to God and Christ. This simple and obvious fact rejects the papists organisation.
"Artist Dana Ellyn says her ‚ÄúBlasphemy‚ÄĚ paintings are a tongue-in-cheek expression of her lack of belief in God and religion"
She will know the answer on judgment day - and regret for eternity.
Psalm 12:1 "Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted"
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: 1) the point is that God told them not to eat of the tree and they disobeyed. Isn't that saying "no" to God? 2) The question is: Why aren't all of those called chosen? 3) 1 John 4:6 applies to both of us. Either one - or both - of us could be wrong.
1) The point is that SIN makes all the difference. Adam = NO sin. - Bert = all sinner.
2) Both are correct ONLY many not ALL called. This blows your theory on all can choose. Few "chosen" - ELECT - ie election BY God alone. The Remnant only get called and chosen.
3) Are YOU sure thats correct Bert? Do you know that absolutely? Are you one of the elect? Or are you bound for an eternal hell and damnation? Do you trust (faith) God ALONE for your salvation? Your faith in Christ Crucified is it implicit? Your personal faith - is it assuredly and totally without doubt OF divine grace? OR just a vain human hope like the church at Matt 7:21-23?
OR Do you trust your relics, icons and dead humans? for answers?
Are these graven images Bert? Breaking the 2nd commandment Bert? If your man made statuettes, icons et al are NOT graven images - then what is?
WE worship, venerate and praise GOD Jesus and the Holy Spirit ALONE ALONE Bert. YOU cant admit that to GOD!
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: 1) So what was the Garden of Eden? An idyllic place where you could talk to God face to face. That sounds a lot like Heaven to me.... 2) Then why did Jesus say that many are called but few are chosen? If all of those called were the elect, then all of them should be chosen. Did Jesus err?
Chalkstone, What is your point vis a vis 1 John 4:6? Show me how I do not know God if that is what you are saying.
1] Adam had a body made from the dust of the EARTH. That is not where heaven is.
2] Because that is precisely what happens. 'Many' NOT 'all' - are called. 'Few' NOT all are "chosen" - the Greek here is the word for "elect."[εκλεκτοι]
1Jn 4:6 The statement of this verse is that they who cannot receive the truth are not of God, - YOU cannot 'hear' the true doctrine which we provide..... "he that is not of God heareth not us"
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: 1) Yes, God has mercy on whomever He pleases. Just as with Moses and Adam & Eve (among others) we have the God-given right to say "no" to God. 2) Matt 22:1-14 3) I did not say anything about works. I simply pointed out that wee can say "no" to God.
1] This is a contradiction to the verses I pointed too. I see now how the Roman catholic church is completely different doctrine.
2] Matt 22:1-14 Has nothing to do with the election of God's people. It is about God moving from Israel to the gentiles.
3] *IF* man can say "NO" to God then that is human action to prevent God saving. THAT IS WHAT WORKS BASED RELIGION IS. Man power unto salvation in lieu of divine power. Fact. There is NO mortal that ever lived can refuse God when God has decided to accomplish anything.
This thread asks if RCC worship a different Jesus. Answer YES! And a 'lesser' god!
Bert. I must say that this is not just a difference in opinion, rather you prove why the Reformation was ordained by God. The Roman Catholic Church cannot perceive truth in Scripture. Sorry to be so blunt.
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: 1) how do you explain your position that the person has no say 2) If the recipient doesn't have that choice then it isn't a gift. 3) If God calls you, do you have the option to say "no"?
1] Rom 9:18-21. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay,......
2] God established the 'elect' before the world began Eph 1:4,5. He simply calls them when HE decides.
3] God is the Creator not debater. He is sovereign and omnipotant. Your doctrinal emphasis on human "works" seems to imply God must "Beg" the sinner when he is (a) dead in sin, and (b) at enmity with God. The sinner under this influence will not, can not discern spiritually and certainly will not entertain God's request. But you have made the sinner equal to GOD???
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. See also v44.
Where is God's sovereign decision in election in your doctrine? Rom 9:11
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: 1] So you are saying that God FORCES Salvation on whomever He wishes?
2] Free will does not cut the Holy Spirit out of the equation.
3] The Grace offered by God is freely offered. But, it is *offered* meaning that we all have the option of accepting it or rejecting it. God offers His Grace to sinners and righteous alike.
2] By teaching that the mortal in his natural estate has the spiritual ability to choose Christ you are making the Holy Spirit redundant. The Holy Spirit regenerates the sinner and FAITH is the GIFT of GOD, which the Holy Spirit works in the sinners heart.
3] Looks like you prevent GOD from the act of election in your organisation. Rom 9:18 and 21. Also You are still excluding SIN from the process which is what prevents the sinner from having the free will to make the spiritual decision to come to Christ (see below). Like our Arminian friends you appear to think that sin is a simple malady in man. Thus YOU reduce the power of sin - as YOU reduce the act of GOD in salvation.
The Bible states But the natural man receiveth NOT the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
"His remarks come as the commission reported 50 allegations of abuse against children last year including sexual, physical and emotional abuse as well as neglect."
The reason why Satan keeps this organisation of his, the RCC, going is to discredit the name of "church" and Christianity.
There is no hope ever of reforming this so called church and bringing it back to Scripture and God's doctrine, precept and law.
The Roman Catholic Church has made a big come back in countries such as Britain over the last century. And it is noticable that things have become worse. During a time when the satanic religion of Liberalism is perverting church and state, clearly Satan's power is increased. That must be why the RCC has made a come back.
Prov 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
WCF 25:6. There is no other Head of the Church but the Lord Jesus Christ:a nor can the Pope of Rome, in any sense be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that man of sin and son of perdition, that exalteth himself in the Church against Christ, and all that is called God.
DisplacedMaritimer (Bert) wrote: But, the gift of Salvation IS in men's hands. God gave us free will which means that I am completely free to accept or reject Him. Doesn't that put the gift of Salvation in my hands?
WOW!!! And I thought the Arminians were bad.
Roman Catholic dogma is clearly waaaayyy off track from Bible. No wonder God Reformed the Church and brought it back to Scripture alone.
Clearly the above statement rejects God rejects the merits of Christ Crucified - AND heretically puts the entire deal in the hands of evil hearted sinner mortal man.
Bert if you cannot even see that God, Christ and the Spirit do salvation, then You are not saved and the Roman Catholic church is unbiblical and unsaved in its dogma.
Free will is a complete delusion. Because; "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1Cor 2:14. And thats before you start with the help of the Holy Spirit, whom incidently with your free will theory above you have cut out of the process.
The reason why the 'natural' man's will is not free is because of sin. He is "dead in sin" as Eph 2:5 teaches. Grace saves NOT man!
"Dying aged just 24, she is one of only three women recognised as ‚ÄėDoctors of the Church‚Äô"
Aha a politically correct 'female' gender (of course) relic.
This will be the correct relic for the Liberals in the Anglican conglomeration, which promotes PC in all its modern doctrines anyway. Thats why traditional and Biblical precepts, laws and morals are repudiated and dismissed by them.
You don't need to identify the modern term homosexual in Scripture to see that God declares it to be an abomination worthy of death.
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination
13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things ARE WORTHY OF DEATH, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them
Psalm 94:1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. 2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud. 3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?
