]]Christianity Today:Editorial "]]A Pope for All Christians: Why believers of all stripes should care about the new head of the Catholic Church." Timothy C. Morgan "Brian Stiller,a global ambassador for the World Evangelical Alliance, commenting about Catholic and evangelical relations, wrote on his blog recently, "Not in 500 years have the two sides been so close and friendly." "Getting Protestants as such to ramp up mission is not that easy, since there are so many, often bickering, voices in the mix of Protestantism. Whether we Protestants like to admit it or not, though, there is a single person in Rome who can influence Christian of every stripe to work more heartily in the cause of Christ, sometimes together (even with Catholics) and sometimes faithfully in their own theological tradition. That's why even non-Catholics are praying fervently for the new pope. Given the monumental challenges of the 21st century, it is more important than ever that Protestants and Catholics figure out how to work together. "That's why even non-Catholics are praying fervently for the new pope." |

John for Jesus wrote: He would ascend to Heaven and for the first time, believers would be able to come to Him there. Not come to faith Wow!! Your theory is definitely different. Even Wesley the stalwart Arminian interprets this verse to be about faith.Matthew Henry wrote on John 6:44,45. "3. Christ, having spoken of faith as the great work of God (v. 29), discourses largely concerning this work, instructing and encouraging us in it. (1.) He shows what it is to believe in Christ. [1.] To believe in Christ is to come to Christ. He that comes to me is the same with him that believes in me (v. 35), and again (v. 37): He that comes unto me; so v. 44, 45. Repentance towards God is coming to him (Jer. 3:22) as our chief good and highest end; and so faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ is coming to him as our prince and Saviour, and our way to the Father" Also at Phil 1:29 "For to you it is given on the behalf of Christ not only to believe, but also to suffer for his name, v.29. Here are two precious gifts given, and both on the behalf of Christ:—1. To believe in him. Faith is God's gift on the behalf of Christ, who purchased for us not only the blessedness which is the object of faith, but the grace of faith itself" (Henry) |
