This is the challenge of our day: "Almost everyone, even Catholics, regards contraception as a self-evident good. Children are an option, not the self-evident responsibility of adult life."One who can read a book, but doesn't, is no better than one who can't read. Likewise, a married Christian couple who can have children but doesn't is no better than a married homosexual couple who can't. Planned barrenness under the banner of Christ will always lead to acceptance of any two (or more) benefiting from "marriage." The "self-evident good" of contraception is that it brings Protestants and Catholics to the table to discuss issues such as "gay equality." |
