No one volunteered to give up the seat for $800 in hard to use vouchers. If the airline had offered real hard cash and increased the valuation they would have soon found enough volunteers.

Better, the parents should require them to take it three times, $1000 each time($5 each time for kids like Dave, but to be fair allow them 600 trips) and the rest to go to the RCC and the Catholic lawyer keeping score.

But total eclipses don't stop the sun for "about a full day".

Also, eclipses are very localised. Why are they taking about a once in 500 year event from a "region" and not the precise narrow band of the eclipse to match the locality?
