Molly: It's "Mac" not "Mc". Google "Ireland & World War II", and you should get the lowdown. The IRA threatened a revolt against the DeValera government if the Republic entered the war against the Nazis. Churchill considered invading Ireland and FDR would have supported it if it were not for the respect he had for the thousands of courageous and patriotic Irish Americans who fought in the U.S. Armed Services.

When will Mr. Paisley and Ms. McAleese honor the Republican Catholics who went to fight for the allies during WW2 when the Republic shamefully remained "neutral" while actually supporting the Nazis (like the Pope did) in hope of England being destroyed? Those Irish who left the Republic to fight for England were almost prosecuted by the DeValera government for not honoring the "neutrality".
