Sermon:
The Insanity of Sin
Rev. Reginald Cranston
1
comment
“ Awesome Sermon! ”
A sobering reminder of just how much mankind is like lemmings, running quickly to sin and death: "Sin is madness of the worst kind. Sin doesn't make any sense at all. Here is the insanity of sin (Luke 15:17). We know that NOTHING good can come from sin. Nothing wholesome can come from sin. Sin will only lead a man from bad to worse. "Leaving a table that was laden with food that led him to the swine troth. Look at sin's destruction. In the prodigal's life, it destroyed his self-respect. It brought division in the prodigal's life-dividing the son from his father and brother. Sin doesn't make sense. "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death. For the wages of sin is death. "Sin is a tyrant, yet so many wish to be under its control. Here is a young man running into evil--it doesn't make sense. "It makes no sense to play with sin. Many today are looking for that far country, where there's no law, no God, no restriction, no accountability, no Bible. Sin is a sport to a fool. "Sin doesn't bring a man gain, sin brings a man loss. "Though this sermon looks at the insanity of sin, Jesus told this parable to show that Christ is a friend of sinners and He will cleanse them."

Sermon:
Halloween: Trick or Treat?
Rev. Gordon Dane

“ Interesting Sermon! ”
Any Christian who hasn't SERIOUSLY studied the issue of Halloween should listen to this sermon because at the very least, Christians should have reasons for doing what they do. This sermon does a terrific job of pointing out some of the evil that takes place on Halloween (but this would seem to argue for Christians to be cautious on this day, since evil happens every single day of the year--like drunk driving on Christmas). Interestingly, he also offers Scriptures that would counter the idea that we ought to have nothing to do with Halloween whatsover, acknowledging the "other side" somewhat but ultimately not agreeing with them. But what the preacher does not address here, however, is the perspective of some Christians who use Halloween to witness and to "mock" the pagan gods of modern people. It would have been interesting to know what Rev. Dane thinks about that. This is an issue Christians should debate, but not divide over. In that Spirit, Christians may also wish to listen to "Halloween -- 1999," by Tim Bourgeois also on Sermon Audio at http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?currSection=&sermonID=1119032177

Sermon:
He Restores Your Soul
Dennis Prutow

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a very, very Christ-centered sermon! Prutow notes: "If you confess your sins He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and to cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness." "A proper respect and fear of God leads to a joy in the heart -- a joy unspeakable that cannot be taken away!"

Sermon:
Friendship, Part 1
Marc Monte

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a crystal-clear, wonderful sermon that discusses a terrific way to think about friendships (and it's not just for youth): there should be something about them that challenges you personally, some ability or attitude that is better than yours so that they can sharpen your "dullness" and vice-versa. A friend isn't superior to you in everything, but when you make a friend, choose someone who can challenge you in some way because the character of your friend will afffect you! "He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." Skim the cream from every man. The right friend will seek to improve you. Real friends don't criticize just to be critical. A true friend gives counsel that's characterized b sweetness and earnestness. "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." This means that a true friend may hurt with the truth if he really cares. People who only tell you what you want to hear are not your friends. There's A LOT more discussed in this sermon, I've only scratched the surface. Worth listening to the entire sermon no matter your age.
