i often prayed in the early days that God would not allow me to be deceived and despite all the many reassurances i received i still take seriously pauls exhortation to make your election and calling sure, its such a serious matter. satan couldnt get at me through unbelief because i totally believed the bible so he tried to make me think that i wasnt one of the elect and it was all my idea but i received more reassurance the bible teaches that belief is a mark of your calling and i had the other signs also. i hope that those in hell that believed are the ones whom rejected jesus as their atonement ie were wilful but the words 'there will be many ....are very sombre i hope that the lost are the obvious apostates such as billy g, sometimes these people are reassuring because they are so obviously in error that it helps to know that the dangers are obvious it would be awful if there were traps that were hard to see, i dont think God would allow that
i was thinking today about reassurance and how even if you think you have lots of faith most of us dont really

i never heard a woman preach anywhere near a decent sermon (few enough men do) and i never met a calvinist that was a woman, nor did i meet a good female sunday school teacher tho they seem to have a monopoly. Only men should teach and i never heard a good hymn by a woman either
i dont hold to the view btw that satan temted eve cos she was a woman, he did it because she hadnt witnessed the creation

well said swrb spot on calvinism is a nickname but that is the gospel

John, i know jamie quite well we went to the met tab theological seminar two years ago or it will be three years in july i regularly call in on him on my way back from murkeyside to touch base
so i keep intouch

I dont bemoan the shortage of christians on anglesey, perhaps i should, the main thing the most important thing is that i am one of them ! Ha ha, amazing i am one of this tiny number, anyway as it happens i do live in a kind of expectancy and wondr what my part shall be as we enter what i think is the finalapproach of history, what will our part be here on anglesey i am planning to produce my four talks the next one being about the flood and want to get them out and present them, maybe this is what i will be doing ill have to try it but at this time with Jesus taking his people very soon and so many in the church believing in evolution and the flood not being true that is a terrible position to be in when the end begins and the old certainties disapear in a flood of judgement so maybe it would be a good thing toget out there and show how people can and should take the bible literally and help them get ready for whats coming

fingerlickin good sermon thumsup im something of a conniseur of sermons on hell and related matters thats a good one.

john i know a couple of people that go to the holywell church its a good church with devout members i cant tell you much about the teaching as the only time i went i think i lucked out as it was on jacob and the goats the ones with stripes and the ones without something to do with genetics at some point i think i passed out so i never really got it. they use the kjv tho, we use the niv id prefer we used the kjv but no where is perfect. there are very few churches here less than a handful (5) which are teaching soundly or reasonably so. to my knowlege ebeneser is the only functioning church in Gwynedd it truly is a remnant and i ask people if jesus removed his own tonight without warning of the 60 000 people on anglesey how many would he take ? my guess is the number of those who live in expectation and hope would be so small that it would be hardly noticeable our minister d finnie is a good teacher and leagues ahead of his comtemporarys in the area also we have a proper lentgh sermon always 40 mins and it never seems that long we had an especialy good sermon this sunday you would enjoy it.

thatll be the first sermon for the morningg thumsup thx, nice day in my cosy workshop with the fire and lots of SA
Thats pretty interesting about IP john i went to a church for 9 years before i went to my present one. i didnt learn much at tthe old church and i wasnt in the truth maybe not evem saved tho my destiny was secure but i digress, the congregation was very small and no one new ever came and people used to blame all sorts of things and suggest remedies, but the simple and obvious truth was that the church had turned its back on the word and they simply couldnt understand that all that was required to 'rebuild the walls' was for us as a church to seek the word and God would do the rest but nobody understood what i meant tho it was the same for all the other churches that had closed Im still convinced that any church that wants revival need do only one thing, get the teaching right, be biblical, seek the word and God will do the rest. where i am now can be charactarised by good teaching (feeding) work (misions) and a high level of biblical literacy (compared to elsewhere) amongst the congregation may as well put the sermon link down
http://www.ebenezerbangor.org.uk/sermons/index.html
but its all based upon valueing the word i think that is the starting point

yes john, daily devotions are the bedrock of our perseverence and in only in them can we 'overcome the world' as you say its a discipline most days i look forward to it but there are many days when it is a discipline one must push the immediate concerns of life to one side and commune with the word, the flesh wars against the spirit and i feel no shame on those days when i want to rush of to work and deliveries are late and i would like to deal with them first but it wont do, the devotions must come first. neglect of this is the begining of loss. continuos reformation is the essentila feature. still and all do i understand you right when at times God will make His presence known more forcefully and cause this reformation / revival or is it a question of likeminded believers attaining a 'critical mass' which causes a revival ?

very succint post by reforreiv can i take it john that you feel that revival applies to the saved who then reenergised work for and receive a more widespread rounding up of the sheep ?
that seems like revival within the church causing reform, the gospel then is proclaimed in a Godly way causing what is perhaps loosely termed revival but isnt very accurate in conveying the sense of what is actually going on.

is it reformation before revival or revial before reformation ? I think the former but that in asking for revival we should ask for reform also ?

Would God send his sheep to well without water ? no but he would fill
it first

i was directed to a page on SA on sermons to do with Billy G and listened to a few, one was commenting on how revivals werent sustained, made no lasting change. assuming this comment is valid does that say something about the message ? does the lack of lasting change mean that the 'revival' was in some way counterfiet? I am thinking of say the welsh 1905 revival. I think that if there were genuine conversions then of course the consequences are eternal upon the individual.

In my circle of brethren Billy G is held in high esteem and yet he is obviously a false teacher.

fred phelps of westboro baptist church fame says that billy graham is a false teacher and hell bound apostate i dunno but i think he might be right cos billy graham says there are many roads to god which is contrary to what jesus said.
