GG~some qualities of a peacemaker are found in Mat. 5:44-45, "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven".
There are times when war is necessary; one example is when God commanded Saul to attack Amalek because of their attacks on Israel in the wilderness, and utterly destroy everyone and everything; men, women, infant, nursing child, ox, sheep, camel and donkey {1 Samuel 15}.
Peacemaker isn't necessarily a reference to preventing war.

Publican~I don't believe salvation is based on ones' eschatological views, and I certainly would not tell anyone with differing views than mine they aren't saved. I do believe this is a 'touchy' subject with many, and has been known to cause quite a riff between believers. I don't agree with taking it to such a level because we are to, in humility, love one another, serve one another, and strive for unity. Besides, we will all find out soon enough.

Publican states, "And you are again quite right about Mr. MacArthur, DJC49".
I wonder, since when is someone's opinion fact, to the point of saying his claim is right? Different views do not make one right or wrong, just different. To be right means to have factual evidence, beyond the shadow of a doubt. To hold to the pre-mil, a-mil, or post-mil view isn't necessarily right or wrong, it is a matter of opinion. Everyone who holds to any of these views can support their view with scripture, so who can truly claim to be 'right'?

Is it possible for the atheist to rationally reason w/o the biblical God? read Dr. Jason Lisle's article at www.alwaysready.wordpress.com/2009/01/06/atheism-an-irrational-worldview/

"The most striking point in the eschatology of the ante-Nicene age {before the council of Nicea} is the prominent chiliasm, or millennarianism, that is the belief of a visible reign of Christ in glory on earth with the risen saints for a thousand years, before the general resurrection and judgment" -Phillip Schaff, the Histoy of the Christian Church, vol. 2, N.Y. Chas. Scribner & Co.,, 1884, pg. 482--taken from article "amillennialism-Examining it's Origens"found at www.prewrathrapture.com/2007/07/amillennialism_examining_its_origens.php

DJC 49~ that's why I directed the link 'to those who hold to a pre-mill view' only. Those who oppose will disagree with MacArthur and squawk at his teaching. I, for one, am in total agreement with the pre-mill view; I don't debate this view because it leads to heated discussions, even division.

For those who hold to a pre-mil view, MacArthur has an informative transcript available at www.gty.org/Resources/Sermons/90-335
It is entitled "Why every Calvinist should be a premillennialist" pt. 2

What is not nice about warning others to avoid God's anger by NOT making false accusations based on any man's opinion? Why would anyone post a link and be clueless to its contents?
To warn someone actually is an act of love and mercy.
Let's not 'foil' others original intent with 'hysteria' mentality.

Tinfoil~ as to the 'new posters', 'wink, wink'

Oh my! A rash of 'new posters' has come aboard. Welcome!?!

I was simply warning Joe not to accuse a man of ungodly teaching/preaching based on another man's accusations. Take what this man preaches/teaches and compare that against scripture, {for yourself}, is what he teaches biblical, or of the devil. Otherwise, you may be in danger of false judgments.

Pew View~ thank you for a clear statement of fact. I avoid the claim of Calvin, because, the original teaching are found in the scriptures and should be accredited to Christ as His teaching, not Calvin.
GG~ there is a sermon found here entitled 'Dead men walking' by David Eddmenson you might consider giving a listen to.

JoeSchmoe~MacArthur is one of the few great expository preacher/teachers of our time. I have not found anything within his teachings that I would consider suspect; however, you are entitled to your own opinion. No one here is forcing you to listen to him, read his books, or watch him. If you have evidence his salvation isn't genuine and his teachings are of the devil, by all means, bring it forth.

I would encourage you to be careful with accusations based on someone else's opinion.

BTW~I read Beardsley's testimony, I found it strange that he claims Christ as his Savior, but doesn't say Christ is his Lord.

Maybe, Yes, I am familiar with the spurgeon.org link, thank you! It is wonderful, I love the 'treasury of David' tab; I recently read Psalm 51 from it, which was such a blessing!
I also like gracegems.org. I have read some of J.C. Ryle's teachings and have been blessed by them. I hope to get into some of Robert Murray McCheyne's stuff at some point.
To get more recent, I just finished a wonderful book by Charles Leiter entitled, "Justification and Regeneration" available for purchase at www.heartcrymissionary.com. Those who read it will be blessed!
I have enjoyed the writings of John MacArthur, "Hard to Believe", as well as "The Truth War" and am always edified by his preaching.

BTW-your suggestions for these boards sounds good!

Tinfoil hat not needed~ I agree, it's like a cat chasing his own tail around here! Seriously though, it is very discouraging. Even when I try to ignore these pesky posters, they will post something I've said which warrants a response, they are manipulative to say the least. Again, may I remind others,as well as myself, the need for prayer for those who are in darkness.

Before September of 2008, these boards were, for the most part, filled with postings which debated against false doctrine, using sound doctrine to solidify the comments.
Now, we have been overran with fears of takeovers, exalting 'mortal men' and following their teachings over God's word, senseless ramblings, and on and on and on....All this nonsense has spilled over into every thread. I appeal to the moderators of S.A. to please consider a policy forum change of some sort to help get these boards back on track. It isn't as though truth has not been given by several here, it has. To continue down the current path is to just add fuel to the fire. We must get these threads back to the original topics, using scripture to support the debates and not propagandish nonsense.

Banned~ why you deem it necessary to make something your business that does NOT pertain to you is beyond me {although I think I know}. I have clearly stated what aac has said in previous posts regarding his/her place of residence. The 'Israel of God' comment does not apply to a physical address or place of residency, so it's time to give that a rest.
Again, aac says {from the 9/30 post} 'here in the United States of North America persecution is alive and well'

from 1/01 post 'Yes, I AM IN ISRAEL. Sometimes I can't handle the daily persecution and would like to leave'

How does one suffer 'persecution' in the spiritual realm?

It is evident from these postings there is some kind of misleading going on, based on aac's OWN WORDS. Trying to separate one's physical location from spiritual is lame, and cannot be supported by scripture. Our soul remains in our earthly body until we leave this world by physical death.
