Lance Eccles,"Its all in the OT"...The Old Testament is of as much importance as the New Testament. I've heard so many Catholics say that. "Oh well that's in the Old Testament"... like it is no longer part of the Bible or something. It looks like you've bought into the Roman Catholic lie that the church has replaced Israel. So have many protestant denominations. I would suggest to you to read Romans chapters 9,10,11 and see if you think Paul is talking about the church. And by the way, Romans is in the New Testament. |

John Yurich,Just because someone prays and asks Jesus to be their Savior, does not necesarily mean that they are born again. A recited prayer from an unsincere heart, or a heart with the wrong motives will not result in being born again. A sincere and repentant heart has already exercised saving faith, and a prayer or alter response is an outward sign of this. This is what I mean by saving faith: Being saved, or born again, is a work of Almighty God changing a persons heart upon their belief and trust upon Jesus Christ's finished work. Jesus was our substitute. God poured His wrath out upon Jesus Christ for my sins. Jesus Christ took my place and recieved my punishment. It was me that should have been put to an eternal death in hell, but Jesus stepped in and took my hell on the cross. I have placed my complete trust that my sin past present and future has been put to death with Christ and paid for once and for all. And because God raised Him from the dead, I know that I have eternal life, because He lives. When I repented from sin and trusted in this alone, God did a miracle in my heart, I have been born again of the Holy Spirit, He lives in me. This is what being saved means. As a former Catholic of 30 yrs, I can tell you that EVERY doctrine of RCC is unscriptural. |

GG,All thru Scripture God is referred to as the Rock of our salvation. Jesus Christ is the solid Rock upon which we stand. This is precisely the "rock" that Jesus is saying that He will build His church upon. This solid Rock of truth, not on a sinful man. The proof for the Bible solely as a rule of faith is found in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. "All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteuosness: That the man of God may be PERFECT, THROUGHLY FURNISHED unto ALL GOOD WORKS." If this is so, and it is, THEN NOTHING ELSE IS NEEDED. GG, who would you rather trust? God and HIs Word, or what some man made istitution says? |
