Not a bad idea Mike. But it would take a lot of reprogramming of the computers and especially human minds. It could be a while, but maybe it would work.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for asking. We at the CELO tried to define terms but the computers just plain froze---to difficult to figure out exactly who or what is evangelical . Evangelical comes from the greek for Gospel: Evangel or Evangelion or something like that. However, many people make compromises with the Gospel: Universal salvation, ecumenism, etc, so that's why it's confusing..and then there are evangelical Catholics, and I think even some baptist evangelicals(trying to revive the more liberal baptist groups), and on and on.

So, John Yurich. Here is what Romans says "If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

So John, have you done this? Do you acknowledge that Jesus is Lord? Do you truly believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead?

The clay has no business complaing, picketing, or protesting what the Potter has done. And what's a picket sign with "God made them that way" going to do? Is that the Gospel? Of course not. I suppose they could just brush it off as a result of an apparent "limited atonement." Westborough is definitely misguided.

Oh, so we're going to align "true" Christians with one political party, or the "true" party with Christians? Wow, that should be interesting, considering the problems and apparent inconsistencies in the various political parties.

It's a Latin phrase. Without looking, I suppose it means no consequence, it doesn't follow through, or something like that. Latin still retains a home among many, but I've got enough languages to juggle now, so I'll pass on Latin study....maybe later I'll take it up.

Yes, I agree, Andy. Too much of a hurry and most likely a sacrifice to the money deity. The computer and cell phone use in the car and on planes should be banned.

No, JD, no joke. Considering what I've seen on this board, I believe my questions are justified. Maybe Mr. Comfort isn't like a lot of others when it comes to evangelizing Catholics. However, if he's opposed to Catholic images and all(perhaps he's not), maybe he should reflect this in his tracts--take out all the imagery. You ask if Paul had the whole New Testament sent to various churches. I'll ask: Did the Apostles send out fake money with some form of the Gospel on it?

cbcpreacher,
Jesus said such would follow them that believe, not precede in order that they may believe or believe more or get more faith. A big difference there.

Albert,
You're asking for one to do something so you'd believe, right? That's not according to faith as Jesus taught. I think you are referring to Mark 16: speaking in new languages, taking up snakes, and drinking poison. Well,it happened in the Bible, so it's true. Jesus said some would drink poison and surive, but it's not listed in the New Testament anybody did that, so it must be others later and not just Apostles or those to whom they preached. I believe it's true, that Christian people have drank poison and lived. It's quite logical to think so. Afterall if Jesus said it, why can't I believe it to be true. Here's something for you to try out: Can you prove that such signs have never happened or are all fake? Now we're even.

John Yurich,
So is that all scriptural? I can't find in the Bible anything about heeding your warning or else being told to depart? How do you know you're not going to be on departure? You still attend the RCC and participate. GG's right about you belonging to a church of one. Why? Because your words and actions prove it.

Good point, Chris. I'm with you on that.

Lurker, the gifts of the Holy Ghost are so closely intertwined with believing, I think the cessation is yet to come. The gospel is still being preached, people are believing and being baptized even today, and these are included in the context of speaking new languages among "them that believe"(Mark 16). To harmonize Jesus' words with Paul's means for me to say the cessation of the manifestations and gifts of the Holy Ghost is to be fulfilled in the future. As for details, all I see(from a literal reading of the accounts) is that when the Holy Ghost comes upon believers, they speak in new languages they never learned, they magnify God, they prophesy, and speak with boldness. And this promise if "for you and for your children and for all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call." So the cessation will occur after this time of grace, calling, and repentance. It hasn't yet happened.

Oh yeah, I agree about that fluride thing. Maybe distilled water is better. I don't need extra fluoride, cadmium, lead, copper, etc etc. And the calcium is so concentrated here, there's a stalagmite(or is it a stalagtite?) growing on the fountain at church..I thought that took many years in evolutionary time. Oh well, leave it on the fountain...good head scratching material for the anti-creationists.

Gotta be careful with money: "The love of money is the root of all evil." The Bible is true on that. Let this be a reminder for any church, mega or minor, and there are good mega churches out there, but of course the ones which "fail" make the headlines. But what else is there to expect from a post-Christian society ready to point a finger.

Sounds like the need for a revival of the true religion based upon an open and literal Bible.

Always trying to figure it out but never believing. The Bible speaks plainly about such as these.

Probably not enough, savedgeezer. I remember the principal in the public elementary school I attended in California presenting the paddle before me and a buddy when we did something we weren't supposed to do. I suppose even having such an object in a school is unacceptable now.

Happy unions, ei? Any legislators out there banning this? I hope so, but they are few and far between.
