John for Jesus:
Good to chat again. Help me understand your position. I am with you until the last bit about predestined to wrath. How can one be predestined to both salvation and wrath?

If the pastor had been a truck driver giving her a ride out of the country, he never would have been prosecuted, much less given time in federal prison. This is a hate sentence for a love crime.

WND also ran an article recently where they interviewed government officials who worked with Brennan in the Middle East. They reported that Brennan converted to Islam while serving there. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the reports, but this does lend it redence.

If you think incest is a problem with yec, then orientation why is it not a problem with your view of origins? Any Christian perspective starts with 2 people.

O great leader, we subjects know that you have longed to gather us as a hen gathers her chicks and bring us down the road of destruction but were not willing. Now we are. Our hearts beat as one, Thy Chosen One.

This illustrates the falsity of the notion that gay marriage is just about two people being happy togethet. They would say, Oh, it's jusr about us, it's not about you. And so many would say, it's none of my business, it does not affect us. Well, it has everything to do with is. Gay marriage recognized in law as equal to Biblical marriage (otherwise known to sane people for thousands of years as simply "marriage") is a damaging blow to what it means to be a family, This is nothing less than the opening salvo to sever the legal connection and rights between biological parents and children. Followed to its logical conclusion, whoever the government says can raise the child would be deemed a parent.

Bring an impeachment vote on this and see how many weak-kneed, spineless politicians would vote again mama and motherhood. Obama would be gone.

I appreciate your attempt at this discussion but would have liked to have seen a more accurate description of calvinism. There were a number of straw men set up by sean, i think. Thank you though for the stimulating topic.

You may also notice that the crowds apoeared after the matthew account
but before and during the luke account, giving further grounds for a chronology of events.

John for JESUS:
I would say that these two passages describe different events, but close in time. In Matthew, Jesus calls Peter and Andrew by the Sea of Galilee. For the first time, he tells them they will be fishing for people. Some time not much later, in Luke, Jesus uses Peter's boat to preach from, and has Peter and his fishing partners put out into deep water to fish and Jesus's second statement that he would be fishing for people. There is no rule that Jesus can only say something one time and one time only. The beauty of the gospels is how they are NOT verbatim reflections of each other. If they were, we would say, hey, there is a conspiracy here or someone just copied someone else. However, just like witnesses in a courtroom, when they give the same account, but in different words from different perspectives, that is the most powerful evidence of all.

Sorry..one correction. Meant to say Matthew "might" have condensed to allow room for other details.

No, I do not believe the centurion account was mistranslated. The custom in that day and culture was to send an intermediary to ask for such a favor from an important person -- to avoid to avoid the face to face embarrassment and not put them on the spot (I guess we still do that today). Furthermore, Matthew condensed his account because he added other details not included in Luke. When writing then, space was a premium, as may imagine. The words Matthew used changes nothing about the meaning. It would be like me saying, John, thanks for coming to me. Well, you haven't really come to me physically, but through another means. Regarding the calling of the apostles, can you tell me which books or verse you are referring to so I don't widely miss the mark.

JOHN FOR JESUS:
On the king issue, there are 2 explanations. The first is that he started reigning at 8 as a coregent but didnt actually start making decisions and ruling until 18 after his father died. The second possibility is that there are differing extant manuscripts due to copyist error. However neither impacts the inerrancy, inspiration and infallibilty of Scripture. We hold these truths about the original manuscripts, not translations such as kjv, niv etc.

Lady Virtue:
My thoughts exactly. I think it comes down to the fact that though they are a small group, they have a loud voice and really believe in their cause. PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE SOMETHING ALWAYS WILL PREVAIL OVER THOSE WHO BELIEVE NOTHING.

John for Jesus:
I appreciate your questions. The answer to the first is quite simple. Luke included more details than Mark. It would be like a meticulous person (luke) reporting that I am making posts to you via SermonAudio on the internet. Another (mark) might say, Joe Lee told John such and such. Both are correct. As to the Nephilim, it depends on which you think that term means. Some (not I) believe that Nephilim were off-spring of angels and humans. If that is the case, the flood would not have destroyed the angels and that could do the same after the flood. Others, including myself, believe it only means giants or very tall people. There is no reason very tall people could not exist after the flood either (ie Goliath). Please let me know if there are other questions you have. I am glad you are for Jesus. Jesus referred to many Scriptures affirming their truthfulness, saying "it is written", and, as the son of God, participated in its inspiration and inerrancy as a revelation of himself. Praise be to our Lord.

John:
What contradictions do you think exist? I am sure many would be glad to respond. The Bible is the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God and I have seen that some use manufactured discrepancies to undermine this doctrine.
