“ Humility comes hard! ”
Thanks Jim. You said what I think God meant for me to get from the great message I just heard. And I do believe you walk the walk from the way you express truth; thank you for being a testimony to His grace. I've been blessed.

The men sitting under her ministry are in a class of their own...

Note~ It's a little embarrassing to be contributing to a "Christian" forum with such ugly bantering going on like in the previous comments here. I've seen the same in other questions and wonder if what comes out of the mouth (onto the keyboard)is in the heart.

As I understand God's Word, the only day set apart by Him is the Lord's Day which gives the follower of Christ great liberty to not feel burdened by the expectation of the "church in the world" to celebrate this "christian holiday". Same with Christmas. We can take it or leave it, and not sin if we aren't religiously observing those days. What freedom! Our family does enjoy the cause for reflection of the 2 wondrous events, and we do have an enjoyable family timemost seasons. If we choose to go to Florida or somewhere to get away from all the fluff, we enjoy the reason for a getaway. Since God opened my eyes to Who He is and salvation in Christ and the sufficiency of His Word, the miserable bondage of the man-inspired Roman Catholic system has been lifted.
I believe the issue of days set aside, tradition, etc. was addressed by Paul in Romans when the question came up re: Gentile believers who weren't "measuring up" to the Jewish believers because they didn't circumcise, follow the Jewish traditions of certain days, or abstain from certain foods. Wouldn't Paul's instruction there pertain to this question also?

This forum is an experience with the name calling and such. You all have an interesting way of making judgements about people! The Lord in His mercy to me has brought me past the Arminian/Calvinist labels that seem to be very popular in this forum. There is also a lot of verse quoting going on all the time which is wonderful, but what about what you KNOW,about YOUR walk with Christ? Yes, I know about Arminius and Calvin; am thankful for the lessons in history, am thankful God brought me to the doctrines of grace and all of His sovereignty, am thankful for the puritan and reformed theologies, for the greats like Augustine, Huss, Wycliffe, Bunyan, Luther, Watson, Pink, Whitfield,Spurgeon, Lloyd-Jones to name a few of the great reads in my bookshelf. I'm trying to figure out your def. of Calvinist. Is is because of my comment about having children? You're not fatalists, are you? Can you humanly understand and describe God's sovereignty and how we are not reduced to puppets on a string? (I love the book of Job.)
Thanks you for your kindness, Fellow Saint...

Did you ever experience the roving eye checking out your garments as you met up with another church member or dress wearing woman? It definitely gives you the message that they are not in approval of what you're wearing. But you know what? If that's what their mind is on, you know its not about who they are in Christ, but what behaviour they expect to see from you. Who's playing God here? I've been smitten in heart by a Christian woman in pants who has more of a Christ-like attitude in her demeanor than I know I have in my own heart as I've judged...

Y'all,
Having children is a fantastic blessing/miracle of which we have but just a prescribed amount of control-we just like to THINK we call all the shots. There are some who get right prideful because of the huge flock they DECIDED to have, just like some who fear the world and all its badness so much so that they are doing their heritage a favor to NOT bring them forth. Where is seeking God's will for your life in all of this?

I want to be ministered to by a man called by God to his position in the church. Someone who loves Jesus and seeks to know and follow Truth in God's Word, and then with the guidance of the Holy Spirit in his life, humbly and fearfully lead the flock, having always as his ultimate goal to glorify God.

I believe the terminology here is misleading. It doesn't matter that they are professing or baptized- both of those are "works". It's all about the heart, and only God truly knows the heart of man. If He has done a work of grace in the heart, drawing a man to Himself to be saved through Christ's work, the new heart is the acceptable requirement, which then leads a man to be a follower of Christ.
Thank God for His Gift!

This question for me is not a legality- and I think the word "binding" distorts the question. As a child of God because of Christ's substitution for me, my new heart naturally wants to serve my new Master. Why wouldn't I want to worship on the Lord's Day with fellow believers? Why wouldn't I want to please Him in following all 10 of His thou shalts and thou shalt nots?
What's so hard about this question, (other that this prison of flesh and remaining sin nature wants to please self?)
Thank you for considering my input...I'm so grateful for Sermon Audio and the fellowship with you all!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you so much for this sermon. Christians have to know the word. Especially in these days. The family is falling apart even in the body. Roles have been reversed due to lack of knowledge of the bible. Women have not been given the responsibility to be pastors but to teach. women are o come under th man. It is a very important responsibility for the woman to teach their children to be a light to those who are young women. For a woman to pastor a church will only confuse those who are new christians as well as the lost. For the word says...The husband is to love his wife as the Lord loves the church. In this verse, it states clearly the man is the head in the home and in the body. Many women do not want to hear ths as submission has been distorted by rebellion. A christian cannot go against the word of God and claim to be a christian. Obedience is more than sacrifice.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This was a really good sermon and I have been encouraged by it. I was also surprised to dscover that the 5th commandment isn't just for kids, but Pastor Briggs has managed to speak to parents too. This would be a great sermon for families to listen to together.
