... speak evil of no one, avoid quarreling, be gentle, show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. - Titus 3:1-3

4 Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.
5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,
8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory?
9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory.
10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it.
11 For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. - 2 Corinthians 3:4-11

Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. - Titus 3:1-3

But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, "Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. - Hebrews 10:32-39

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thanks for discussing this. I was wondering about Romans 3:19. Your ministry is a blessing to me. Thank you.

Good point. I speaking more about the tone (seems inflammatory) of the article vs the action of sending sermons. If the sending of the sermons is some type of vengeful action, then it is wrong (Matthew 5:39-41, Romans 12:19, Titus 3:1-3).

Because they are sending sermons and Bibles it means you know they are not praying for her???

What does the Gospel of Jesus Christ have to do with the First Amendment? Martin Luther attacked false doctrine. Our weapons are not carnal. The Gospel, not the US Constitution, is the answer. 2 Cor 5:17

So much for humility and instead praying for those who persecute us.

To John's point:

For although they KNEW God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:21

“ Great Audio Book! ”
Thank you for providing this free audio book. I am benefiting greatly from the material in it. It is eye-opening--as radical as the biblical doctrine of election. I am seeing things that I once glossed over. Coming out of Way of the Master evangelism and Reformed thinking, the information in this book is causing a welcomed paradigm shift for me.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 3:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

Interesting. No mention of Jesus Christ and the gospel. That is who and what we really need.

“ Legitimate Discussion ”
Good Discussion. Legitimate questions. Because most people incorrectly believe that good works get you into heaven, they believe that if a celebrity does charity work, this means they are saved. Not necessarily.

The full gospel would be better. The law cannot change anyone's heart, though if they do this, it would probably best to also include the correct and full application of that commandment, which was given by Jesus. Murder starts in the heart.

The return of our Lord Jesus Christ is not contingent on the continued degeneration of America. America is not the center of the universe.

"My Hope _America_". This is one of the problems in modern American Christianity. It is myopic and essentially is looking for some utopian society in this present age. It is hope in a temporal nation, rather than in our Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ.

Agree. Two James' that think alike. These polls/statistics get old to me because they lead people into a deterministic belief system. e.g. If I bring up my kids in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4), they WILL be saved. Salvation is of the Lord.

Had some typos. A true believer can and should leave a church if that church is not acting or teaching as a church should, though there are no perfect churches. Nothing can separate a true believer from the true church.

Though one could take Jucir's comment as prideful (depending on your point of view), if you do not believe in the sovereign grace election of God, but instead believe in a type of synergistic salvation where man must make the first step and meet God half-way, or if you believe that man can lose his salvation, then you will be worried about these stats. Nobody in theor right ,ind would argue that a believer has a right to leave 'a' church if that church is corrupt or does not feed its sheep. That is not the issue. The issue is will a true believer, a sheep of Christ, leave 'the' Church. From Scripture, the answer is no.
