Con't

The 10 commandments are still very much in effect, and Jesus himself said that he hadn't come to abolish the law but fulfil it.

Those Christians who do play sport on a Sunday are not living in complete accordance with the Bible, whether you believe the Bible or not. They're also not getting the full benefit of a proper day of rest, which is essentially what the Sabbath is. God knows us better than we know ourselves and provided 1 day in 7 for our rest. No wonder people drive themselves into the ground working 7 days a week...

Several sports stars have refused to break the Sabbath. In rugby the most recent example was Michael Jones, the New Zealand flanker who could have earned many more caps had he been prepared to turn out on Sundays.

And Scotland rugby winger and Olympic sprinter Eric Liddell ruled himself out of the 100 metere at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 for the same reason.
He won gold in the 400meters, his story subsequently being immortalised in the Oscar-winning film Chariots Of Fire.

Euan Murray also has a 61 minute testimony that can be heard on SA. May I kindly suggest that before you make any more negative remarks about him or others like him, to please give a listen. I believe if you do, you will be a better person for it.

Here are a couple of comments concerning the Sabbath from the news article

Revvy wrote:
Mt 12:12 -

"How much more valuable is a human being than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath." (the words of Jesus according to Matthew.)

I would have thought turning out for Scotland at rugby and giving pleasure to thousands of people by using one's God given talents would be seen as doing good on the Sabbath. A Bible Study with Euan Murray would be an interesting experience. Since when were the 10 Commandments a body of law designed for a nomadic tribe with no legal structure suddenly become the commanmdments of Jesus. I don't wish to deny Euan's right to follow his conscience but I think his theology should be challenged. By implication those Christians who do play sport on a Sunday are they somewhat not quite the full monty?

KingLaudrup replied:

Revvy - it is absolutely lawful to do good on the Sabbath...but not at the expense of the overriding principle - keeping the Sabbath day holy (i.e. set apart). If Euan was to play on Sundays, he'd really be treating it like it was another Saturday, which it patently isn't.

As for the 10 commandments - you need to read Galatians to understand the applicability of Old Testament law nowadays.

(To be con't)

Now we have John Y giving me his comment about what the Sabbath day really is, etc. Yes, John, I should have said the "Lord's day" because the disciples met on the first day of the week.

But I have no respect for you or your comments because of your stuborness to leave the Roman Catholic Church after hundreds of others posting here have told you to do so. If there was an ignore feature on SA, you and Jim Lincoln would be on it. I have abolutely NO respect for anything you have to say, and I never usually bother to read whatever you have commented on. You are usually just saying such and such is "psychotic" and it has been said that the thing you are criticizing is the same thing you are guilty of.

You are not always in error, because even a broken clock is right twice a day, but people like yourself who are unteachable are not worth wasting any time on. So no matter what your comment will be, I am thru addressing you again.

It is no easy thing to hold our profession of faith steady in this day and age by just attending church on Sunday. Because once you drop OUT, it is not as easy to drop IN. The excuse about having to work to support the family or self are used without thinking that it is God who has given us the breath of of life and at any time it can be taken from us.

Nothing any professing Christian ever does to honor Jesus Christ and glorify God will be something that they will ever be ashamed of which includes keeping the sabbath day holy. Just as this young athletle said, you can't pick and chose which part of the bible you agree with.

I am in full agreement with wake up commenting here praising God for His Grace in this young man's life, and I am also thankful for the convictions and stand of this athlete, Euan Murray, and I salute him just like Frank Dombrosky.

No one knows except God what kind of impact his testimony will have on others regarding working on Sunday. My prayer is that I could have 1/1,000,000 of that kind of effect on others who are unsure that working on Sunday is not acceptable behavior to God and who profess to love the Lord.

Merry Christmas to all!

Doocot,

Well said. I was born in 1933, so I also saw a United States of America that once stood for God and Country. Now "they" have eliminated God and prayers in schools, and are working to take "In God We Trust" off our currency. And this is the same country whose pledge of alliance used to say "One Nation, under God"!

Now with all the ear tinkling preaching with self worship and entertainment along with the perverted versions of the bible, we have produced a nation of spineless people calling themselves Christians. Professing, but not possessing!!!

We now have a testimony of our athletes which was the norm become known nationwide. Evolution and the Creation Story cannot both be true despite what some scholars are saying. Evolution taught in school does not produce God-fearing people, instead it has produced these selfish and self-willed people to demand their rights by flaunting their agenda like homosexual marriage, abortions,in parades and in public education.

With our elected officals, the USA is no longer a nation founded on on Christian doctrine and principals.

So Doocat, Scotland in not the only nation in the world that needs God's mercy. We need a double dose right here in America!!!

It looks like that the mormon's, JW's, RCC, etc. aren't the only elitists in the world, we seem to have plenty of them here on SA. When someone that gives a testimony that is honoring to the Lord like this young man, instead of being thankful that he is heard worldwide, they find his faults so they can feel good about themselves.

May I suggest to those of you that are exalting yourselves to read verse 14 over again? Thankfully, there are also others on SA that have done that and are humble. None of us can please God in our flesh!!!

"Three Days In December: Christmas Eve"

The incarnate Christ, the Son of God, was one night away from being birthed in a barn. The world would never be the same; this was the last day without the Saviour! The dawning of a new day was about to paint back the curtain of man's dark night.

Dr. Tim Green, Evangelist for Revival in Our Time and Editor of the Baptist Bread. (The year of our Lord, Dec. 22, 2009 AD)

The Christmas message last Sunday at the Liberty Baptist Church in Stead, NV was taken from Luke 2:7,

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in *swadding clothes, and laid him in a manager, because their was "no room" for them at the inn."

Now over 2,000 years ago there is still "no room" for him in most peoples lives including professing Christians. Please examine yourselves and make sure their is room for Him not only just on Sunday, but for the whole week!

*long, narrow bands of cloth wrapped around a newborn in former times (Defined KJV)

"Three Days In December: Christmas Eve"

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins."Matt. 1:21 (KJV)

This day began like any other day in the last 400 silent years since the OT slammed shut with a curse (cf. Mal. 4:6). Shopkeepers sold their wares, women labored in the homes, rulers reigned in splendor, men worked the fields, as the world continued her mundanely solemn nature.

Surely in some of the homes in Israel the hope of the Messiah still lingered longingly in a few hearts. In others, it seemed like the dying embers of a dream. Perhaps in the daily devotions in the households of the devout these words were read, "...the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel".
Isa. 7:14 (KJV)

Unbeknownst to these faithful few and amidst the doubt and ignorance of multitudes, there was something earth-shattering and nation changing about to take place on the morrow. I'm not even sure Mary and Joseph knew her exact date; they knew it was imminent though! However, the hope of the working fathers, the housekeeping mothers, the aged dowagers, and the youths of the world was about to be born in the village of Bethlehem!

Thank you John and Michael for taking what I commented the way it was intended. You are right that many churches are lax and givng ear tickling messages. If you feel the way you do, you should address the pastor and/or start your own ministries.

There are three FIBaptist Churches here and I am praying that the Lord will allow me to preach/teach in a home for the homeless veterans also provide them with food, clothing, shelter, work, and phyiscal problems so that they will regain their self worth and be productive citizens again with Jesus Christ as their Saviour the rest of their lives.

I am waiting approval on a 5br home and have a Christian brother with experience to assist. Lord willing, we will have bible study and a music ministry 5 nights a week. This will be a non profit org and some mandatory attendance will be required. It is called the "Hedges and Highways Ministry".

The 3 FIB churches here are ALL based on Jesus Christ Only for salvation and they all use the KJV, so we are like-minded on those important issues. So I will also work with them for Sunday services.

Please pray that this is God's will for me in the last mile. I can do nothing without Jesus Christ being in this endeavour.

Thanks, Jim, please take heed what has just been told you

Stop! Nothing is more important than the Lord! Selah! Nothing is more important than your relationship to HIM!
We will all be pressed to do some really important task and miss our precious time with the Lord. Make sure you make Him your priority this Christmas Season! C.S.

John UK and Michael Hranek,

Since I have e-mailed both of you and have much respect and love for you, what I am going to say is for your spirtual growth as well as mine. Because what you both are in agreement regarding the church's lack of prayer, etc. I had have also stopped attending for similiar reasons until last week after my accountablity partner read to me 1 Tim 12:19-31 regarding the body and members.

Tim 12:25 "That there should be no "schism" in the body, but that the members should have the same care one for another."

Schism is defined as split or division caused by difference of opinon. What you both are posting causes division because it is not encouraging others to go to church. You both agree on the same issue and are giving your reasons why you are not attending does not edify or build up the church of Christ which is the body and NOT a building.

Remember that "God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." Being an isolated Christian is not the way we are to worship God as this chapter advises us.

So ask yourselves, are you glorifying Jesus Christ by encouraging NOT attending church because of what YOU think?

"Missing Priorites"

"And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place."
John 5:13 KJV

The man with an infirmity got healed but missed getting saved. Jesus in His mercey came to him later.

There is a humorous true story of Wilbur and Orville Wright. They had been working intensely to fly a heavier-than-air craft at Kitty Hawk, NC. They finally flew! Elated, they wired their sister, Katherine, at home in Dayton, Ohio. "We have actually flown one hundred and twenty feet. Will be home for Christmas." She hastily ran down the street and shoved the telegram, the news scoop of the century, at the editor of the local newspaper. He read it carefully and smiled, "Well, well! How nice, the boys will be home for Christmas!" He missed the point completely.

We claim to be celebrating Christ's birth, but most, without fail, will miss the Lord Jesus Christ completely. The holidays are upon us. The rush is on. And many who are trying to make the holiday perfect will miss the ONE who is perfect! Bible reading will dwindle, prayer will be rushed at best, family altar will wane, and attendance to worship will be sporadic because of "important" things. But, the holiday worship will be perfect, or so we think.Cont

There are some very excellent comments made here regarding Muhammad and that includes yours, Jim Lincoln. Allah had NO son and if you are a Muslim, there is no such thing as a "peaceful" Muslim if you have read the Koran. Jihad is a holy war against the infidels, and that is why they were all cheering in the streets on 9/11.

Trying to soap soap this flse religion as having the same God of that of the Christian faith is pathetic! Just for that reason alone any Roman Catholic should flee that evil organization for even considering such an outlandish lie. And yet the Muslims are the fastest growing religion and spreading quickly across the whole world that is just acting helpless with all the corrupt leaders in power!!!

I am just wondering how long it will be that speaking out like this about them will be considered a "hate crime"! I don';t think it is very far off.

There is a big difference between Freedom "OF" Religion and Freedom "FROM" Religion.

Since you are not sound in doctrine, it is only quite fitting that you would post another "link" to supposedly validate your ignorance.

I "love" it. You run down Jim Lincoln for being non-KJV Only AND THEN you turn right around and brag of purchasing DEFINED KJV Bibles.
Isn't the KJV so good, so excellent, in fact the only English translation of the Bible anyone should use, and need to learn English so they can use it, and NOT even update into modern English by itself good enough for you?
Ooooops I guess not.
What a loving witness to the lost. We've got this one translation, the KJV, that we do our "best" to force everyone to use even though it is in old English and cannot really be understood unless you have our DEFINED KJV Bible. And don't you dare use any other translation in modern English that you can understand because we will "condemn you" if you do.
Now that I've poked a bit of fun at you. For those who insist on being KJV Only I suppose the Defined KJV would be an excellent Christmas gift and those who are KJV Only would probably appreciate receiving one.
Michael Hranek,

I would like to send you one of the Defined KJV bibles for Christmas so you can see for yourself. People like yourself that convert from the RCC and then want to win other Catholics to Jesus Christ are very scare.

What a poor comment to make in the light of genuine Christian love and fellowship in the gospel. You should really be ashamed of yourself. You are getting worse than the hypermen who soon post negativity when folks enjoy just a smidgeon of true fellowship on these boards. Now it is not just Mr Lincoln who needs the repentance pill but Mr Hranek also, for the Lord is displeased with your remarks.
Also, I have told you to research a little before making comments about Bible Versions. But have you done so?
The Defined KJV has, in its text, the ordinary AV text, so for those who have no problem with that text, they can ignore the definitions.
But for Mr Lincoln and yourself, if you comprehend not what the text is saying, because of archaic words, you can refer to the footnotes where certain words are defined. Thus there should be NO PROBLEM for any soul on this planet.
"Love one another," said Jesus.
John UK,

Now how could I have possibly sensed to ship you a Defined KJV free sample out of the many people defending it here and that you would put in the excellent comments if you saw it, unless it was of the Lord's doings?

Thank you,Bro

Oh and while you are at it, you may try repentance. It is a bitter pill to take but it effects the cure, said one pious soul many years ago.
Bro UK John,

You would get better results talking to the wall than talking to "Links" Lincoln regarding the KJV. This man is very biblically ignorant and thinks he is doing a service here promoting this counterfeit and perverted version of the bible. He may profess to be a Christian, but there is reasonable doubt he is not a possessing one because of his adamant argument against the KJV. He really should take that bible version argument to some other website which supports his viewpoint instead of continuing to post all that tripe on SA!

I am ordering 12 more of the Defined KJV bibles, Bro John, if you have someone you would like to give one to, let me know before Christmas.

Mr Lincoln,

If bothering you is reprimanding you from promoting your counterfeit version, then I make you apology. There are more churches and people that use the KJV on the Sermon Audio website.

You must have "link" and "think" mixed up as it is apparent you do not do the former. Any link you post has no merit as far as I'm concerned coming from someone with your narrow minded and shallow mindset, sir!

You are correct in one sense that the article was not about the KJV, but since Mr. Lincoln quoted something about money which the article wasn't about, was the reason I made my comment regardng the NASB which Mr. Lincoln keeps trying to promote here. And unless you are a moderator, that is just your opinion which I could care less!!!

But thanks for your comments on the little boy. It was very refreshing to read something positive going on in the news today and THAT is what the article was about, NOT about money!!!
