I live close enough to Sun Valley to have visited GCC a couple times over the years...but anyone that even listen's to JM's strictly expository sermons know's he's not purpose driven and he's critiqued S-Back Church as much as any pastor.
Mike, you're overstating your conviction a bit. Even if reformed Baptists believe covenantal baptism is error...you suggest Baptists (like yourself) think paedobaptists aren't real Christian??
"These " Baptist reformed" hold calvin, in high esteem, but would not considered him a true Christian. Because he was a Padobaptist,"
UP Servant, You mean we don't get to enjoy piling on condemnation when someone stands for goodness / values when it's questionable if they are even part of our fraternity?
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. James 5:12
For myself, the issue was not leaving Rome that blinded me, but for others in my family that upbringing seemed to have more of a stronghold. I think there is some truth to the Jesuit saying, "Give me a child for the first seven years and I will show you the man."
Thankful for God's supernatural work of the Holy Spirit on myself and others in my family that led to saving grace.
As one having been raised Catholic but saved by grace later in life, I don't have sympathy for the RCC false system. That being said, I was surprised to recently read this about the previous Pope Benedict XVI.
"In 1976, he (Ratziner) suggested that the Augsburg Confession, the primary confession of faith of the Lutheran Church and one of the most important documents of the Lutheran reformation, might possibly be recognized as a Catholic statement of faith. He later backed off this position because of differences between Catholics and Lutherans on the understanding of justification." Gospel Coalition Website
This documentary is precisely why evolutionists avoid debates with capable Christian apologists. They understand they've won over much of the secular population through propaganda and ridicule of creationists, so why risk being challenged and exposed...their version of a prevent defense to borrow football vernacular.
Jim said "He makes some interesting comments on politics and abortion. He is good at talking at of both sides of his mouth"
Jim's right, you've got to be conflicted these days to take a stand for Scriptural morality and to have worked for a democrat congressman which by default are opposed to most things biblical. Let's hope he's since seen the light.
