John Ulics wrote: Deuteronomy 28:63 (AV) And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought... The key verbs "destroy" and "rejoice" in the Hebrew אבד (abad) and שוש (suws), respectively defined, perish, die, exterminate, kill, put to death...; joy, glad, rejoice, delight. In context, this passage speaks to His covenant, chosen people. Not saying that Piper is wrong, for his quote of Scripture is correct. But this passage ought to give us pause. I, however, would never compare the inherently finite, corrupt, mind of mankind to that of Almighty God... I fear Him too much to make such a statement, and Scripture refutes such a notion in multiple passages. But, then again, Mr. Piper is much more learned and experienced in Scripture than I. I cannot agree with you closing statement although I agree with what preceded it. A man can have intellectual gifts but that is not what makes him right, what makes him true and faithful is the Spirit of Truth and men without His influence are right and wrong at the same time. |

Opo wrote: Lets hope the ordinary people get some actual freedom out of current events wherever it comes from. Opo, I was just curious what does freedom for the Libyan people, that you seem to be representing present itself as? Freedom to believe the true religion, the gospel of Jesus Christ, because when the Son sets you free, you are free in deed. Or are you only talking economics. I believe there are poor and rich in every economic model. Some might choose poverty over sin and some might choose sin over poverty, some might be rich by righteousness and some might be rich by covetousness and theft. Sin is an internal condition and the gospel conquers men and makes them free to be godly and righteous. |

Rick wrote: Why stop there? Why not say that Adulterers, fornicators, lairs, and cheats do the same? It will be interesting to see what the denomination does about this, if anything. Agreed Rick, but it is the violations of first table commandments which is synonymous with spiritual fornication and the downward progression that is why I stressed the hereditary warning of the second commandment.Spiritual violations precede second table violations not the other way around. Romans 1 is dealing with those under the Triune Jehovah's Creation mandate. But Paul in another place speaks to believers 1 Cor. 10:7-12 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. |

Lurker wrote: Rev 11:19 ¶ And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. Timeline of this verse: The seventh (last trump - 1 Cor 15:52) Lurker,Rev. 11:14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. 15And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom(s) of this world are become the kingdom(s) of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. It is believed by the best of men, who of course, are men at best that the vial judgments against the apostate church, begin with the 5th trumpet or the first woe trumpet. Others believe that the sounding of the last woe trumpet #7 will begin the vial judgments. I tend to the first position. It would seem the vial judgments shall be complete before the millennium and that there will be a time on earth where God's kingdom comes and his will, will be done at least more so on earth then in this apostate time and again before Satan is loosed again by Christ to deceive the nations. It is then Christ returns for the final time. |

They offer another gospel.Daniel 9:10-12 Isaiah 8:19-21 v.20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Exodus 20:1-6 And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. |
