Obvious, I was actually referencing the passage in Hebrews the reads as follows: "See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, FOR HE FOUND NO CHANCE TO REPENT." Esau was just an example for those who commit sins "leading unto death" after baptism, to show that it was impossible for them to be restored back into the church. Sexual immorality is obviously one of those sins as this and many other passages make clear. Regarding Mother Teresa, I understand your qualms about her being a member of the Catholic Church. Without question her doctrine was off, but that did not prevent her from following the call of Christ. As a whole the Catholics are damned, but there are very, very few individuals scattered throughout (typically nuns or monastic) that are completely devoted to following Christ and denying self of all things for His sake, and they who "doeth the things the law requireth" shall be saved. St. Francis of Assisi is another example of one who "put on Christ" in the midst of heretics. |

JD pontificates: "At the moment of my conversion, all my sins were paid for -- past sins, present sins and future sins. All paid for. Settled. Done. God knew what sins I would commit and He paid for them all. When I took the free gift of salvation, I accepted the payment at that time for all the sins I would ever commit."This has got to be the most moronic teaching I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. No sinner with any hint of intelligence would believe that his conduct has no bearing on his entrance into the kingdom of God. That Mother Theresa and John Wesley will be walking hand in hand with idolaters, sodomites, self-defilers, liars, witches, self-serving capitalists, baby killers, war-mongerers, and all other sorts of workers of iniquity all because their "sins were paid for past, present and future." Boy o boy, all of those silly saints and martyrs who actually thought they had to "work out their own salvation." Who naively thought that when the Holy Spirit warns that "without holiness, noone shall see God" that he meant it. And those damnable rigorists of the early church who thought it meet to cast out sinners from their midsts and provide no means for their return, like Esau who had sold his birthright and was granted no forgiveness though he repented |

"Pastor" Alex, Did Paul write during this so-called dispensation of grace where my salvation (entry into heaven) has absolutely nothing to do with my works? If so, why did he write "For WE MUST ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that EACH ONE may receive what is DUE for what he has done IN THE BODY, whether GOOD or EVIL."Perhaps Christ was thinking of the wrong dispensation when he declares that: "...the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person ACCORDING TO WHAT HE HAS DONE." How could your works be the basis of the final judgment??? Why have a judgment at all if nothing one does can affect their salvation. With irresistible grace, Christ's imputed righteousness, and eternal security the elect are saved and yet for all that a persons' deeds and not the speculative inventions of men will be the determining factor on the great day of judgment. For we know that "God is not mocked" and he "will render to each one according to his WORKS: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and DO NOT OBEY the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury." |
